Welcome lights (AE's) not working after LED Angel Eye install

Hello all,

PLEASE HELP! I purchased the new DTEC LED's from e92lighting here:

http://www.e92-lighting.com/bmw-ange...-angel-eye-v2/

They look amazing however right after I installed them I realized that my welcome lights aren't working correctly. All of the lights come on except for the angel eyes.

My car is a 2011 328i with halogen lights and iDrive. After I noticed the problem I took the car to detailaddict in Santa Clara to have it coded but they were unable to find a solution.

What could be wrong or what could I do to fix this?

Thank you!

Try to see if other people have had similar issues to you, but my guess it might have something to do with faulty wiring (on the bulb's end not you).

Hate to hijack your thread but how did you like Detail Addict for coding, I'm thinking of taking my e90 down there to code some time soon.

They're great except for the fact that they couldn't figure out how to code my welcome lights correctly...

I have the same car like you, but I converted my headlights to Xenon with welcome AE lights.

Since you're in Santa Clara. Try to contact Simon of Boss Cats Design. He did evrerything for me.

I'm assuming the AE's work fine when you have the lights on?

Yes as daytime running lights and parking lights they work perfectly. It's only the welcome lights that are giving me issues. Even stranger, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Every now and then the welcome lights come on. It's very rare though. Also, all other welcome lights work every time except for the AE's. I'm starting to think this is a battery issue?

Do you have any bulb out errors? I had this issue when I had a bulb going out but not out yet. If my car saw a bulb "out", it would not turn on the welcome lights.

Also, could be a battery gremlin too.

No bubl out errors. The car shows no errors at all. Although I have noticed that if I turn off the engine and listen to the radio I get a low power warning after about 2-3 minutes. Then the radio turns itself off. This seems very odd considering the car is only 3 years old.

are you referring to when you lock/unlock the car? If so then this will only happen 3-4 times before it disables itself. You will need to wait 10-15 minutes or you can start the car to reset the timer. Does that make sense?

Yes, What LUX said as well. The welcome lights "disable" themselves as well.

However, does sound you like you may have a battery issue. Have you been in for the cable recall?

I scheduled to have the cable recall done on Tuesday. Hopefully this fixes the issue. If not I will be returning the angel eyes and trying a set that I know works fine.

your battery might be low ... that's a known reason why welcome lights don't come on!

Ok so just a little update: Over the weekend I flew to LA to visit family. I parked my car in an airport lot and somehow LEFT MY PARKING LIGHTS ON. So yesterday after my flight home I went to my car and boom, dead battery. Luckily they had jumper cables and gave me a jump. Anyway ever since this happened the welcome lights have been working perfectly. They've worked every time since. Maybe 6-7 times so far. I don't know how but I think letting the battery go dead must have reset something and now they work. Anyway, the problem seems to be fixed now. I have an appointment for the cable recall tomorrow morning. If anything changes I'll give you guys a heads up. Thanks for the help!
