Should I spend extra on protection?
Should I spend extra $$ to have my car opti-coated or clear bra'd? This car would be garaged and it won't be a daily. Should i go the extra mile and pay for extra protection? or cleaning/waxing now and then should be fine?

Make sure the car is "clayed" prior to any protective coating. I've used clear bras in the past. The only brand, and I mean the ONLY brand, I'd recommend is 3M. I'd also make sure you research your installer's reputation.
A good clear bra install can run $1k+ for the majority of the front surfaces of the car. Either way, make sure the car is clayed so that no contaminants are trapped beneath any treatment you apply to your car's finish INCLUDING WAX, and wax finishing / detailing spray. Good luck!

I have put clear bras on all my past cars...I drive daily highway and rock chips are plentiful. My last car paint was black...and after 20k miles there was more primer showing than paint. I ended up repainting and clear bra the whole front end and mirrors...it was perfect to the day I sold it
