Bluetooth pairing !?

Ok… here’s my dumb question of the day…

How do I pair my phone with the vehicle Bluetooth? I read the instructions about 10 times and still haven’t seen any “pairing” text on the screen. Is the phone cradle a mandatory piece if I want to use my phone through Bluetooth?

Check if your phone is compatible w/ the year of the car...you can get a full list at BMWUSA.com, The phone should pair automaticly once is done the first time...make sure your phone has the bluetooth on...

Also..go to this website: http://www.wireless4bmw.com/
it has all the info you need...I don't think it is available for 03's models..

Yeah.

1. Make sure bluetooth is on and your phone is in 'Discoverable' mode.
2. You then push the R/T button on the steering wheel and it should pop up on your phone (I usually put my phone into a bluetooth search mode as well).
3. Then when pairing you use the 4 digit number on the elaminated card you get in your manual package that is called the PIN# or something to that effect.
4. Use your phone (found it easiest to program names and numbers into the car itself istead of trying to use the phonebook)

I dont' think the 2003 models have any BT capability - my 2004 didn't.

Here's a link for you. It's not cheap but it works flawlessly....I just opted for a pairing button only which I installed just inside the center console compartment on a side wall. If you're fairly handy you can install this system in about an hour.

Call and talk to Martin - he will give you all the info you need.

The R/T button eh? I was pressing the one that looks like <))) on the left of the steering wheel... Ill try that out when I get to the car.

I had several problems pairing my iphone and after about 10-15 tries it just worked. I'm not sure what I did differently.

Recently I actually UNPAIRED my phone from the car because the voice quality was just so bad....even with top UP driving. In my 5-series the bluetooth works great even at speeds above 80 mph.

Mine is not on the compatibility list either. I have a Samsung Blade and it works at all speeds very well. The iPhone doesn't get good reception at all but it paired and that is not on the list for my car either.

Congrats on the 07 Z4MC

I have paired 3 samsungs (the blade, the p310, and the I760) without any problems. I never hit the r/t button - not sure what I did.

I went out to try and see what I have done to pair up my phones and I literally have not done anything. I get in the car turn the ignition half way, do a search on the phone and it finds the car. Plug in the pairing code and away I go. It has even loaded the full phone book of about 500 contacts...

I bought the Samsung Blackjack and returned it 3 days later (several months ago) since it wouldn't stay paired with my 5-series. I've heard that the new Windows update has resolved that issue. I have the iphone now (which works flawlessly in the 525i) but I haven't bothered to try to pair it with the Z4 since I'm usually top-down.

lol, as much jibber jabber as I hear about the N95 being the end all phone (I don't agree but to each their own) I am sure it will pair with the Zed.

iPhone wasn't on the list when I got the car or the phone and it works well with teh Zed. I just have to make sure my WiFi is turned off or it gets a semi staticky connection with the car for some reason Easy enough for me to do though.

How do you like the N95, I don't know many people in the states that have it.

I like my Nokia a lot. It's got a great camera (5 MegaPixels), great speakers and a big 8GB memory. And I think it is better than the iPhone becasue you can download more stuff for it. But the iPhone has this touch screen and it's an Apple, so... I'llstick with my Nokia though

?? You can actually download more on the iPhone. Mine is hacked so I can create my own programs on it actually. I can guarantee you my iPhone would outperform your N95 in most ways (I don't have 3G or a 5mp camera but that's about it)

I can even run VNS servers and clients on my phone... meaning I can use my phone as a visual interface anywhere on my network (like remote desktop if you are familiar).

Not to hijack a thread but.. My phone will recognize my car but when I go to enter the passcode it tries to pair and says pairing incomplete and quits. Does this mean the phone is incompatible, or just that I need to keep trying? I've done it many times so far tonight.

Btw, Hi.. just bought my first BMW (a Z4) on Saturday and loving it.

Congrats on the new car!

I would say it is probably a problem with either your passcode being wrong or a phone actually being incompatiable (which I have not heard of yet). I would check the 4 digit passkey and try again... if that doesn't work just have the dealer do it while you are watching... if there is a real problem they can fix it.

iPhone Connects

OK, my first post so here it goes.

The iphone connect much easier than the TL, it even downloaded all on my contacts super quick. Now I need to see which of the phone numbers it loaded, more than 1 for many of the contacts. Sound appears good, I sent myself a message. More to follow....
