Keyless

So F15 is always keyless start, right? Premium package's Comfort Access only adds keyless entry?

That is what I heard today when ordering mine. I did not get Premium package because I don't need comfort access, satellite radio or soft close doors.

Premium package used to be a big deal on X5 but now it not attractive at all at least in my opinion.

Garage List
Does it also add touch less trunk open?
Like swinging your foot under the car opens the lift gate
Or this feature is on other BMWs, not X5?

It includes Leather and hence $2700. Keyless alone was $1000 on E70.

I can't answer your question specifically but I did learn that you can open the rear hatch with the remote by holding down a button on the remote. But you can not close it with the remote (This is for US models). I remember there being questions about this based on the videos that were released.

Keyless

I don't think Keyless start is standard, Keyless start is part of (Premium Package - Comfort Access keyless entry). You still have to put the fob in to start the car.

As a fob user now, I can tell you that I will be getting Premium package with comfort access key.

I believe this is incorrect. There is no longer a fob- hole in the dash.

^ Comment for Rear Hatch (RH), remote FOB to open & close has conflicting postings. Not to say that above ^ is wrong. Would be nice if a owner would clarify.

SA stated that the 2 piece RH (rather than a 1 piece) is because the overall high opening is too high. The RH height can be adjusted to 3 settings, low, med & full on other X vehicles. I think other mid sized SUV manufactures have a 1 piece RH. Assuming the RH can be opened by Comfort Access (via touching the outside RH) or remote FOB or via inside vehicle button, they will ALL only open the top portion of RH ( lower portion RH is only manually operated). So if one has something really heavy to load in the rear, a free pair of hands is needed to manually open the lower portion RH or one has to struggle to lift higher to clear the height of the closed lower RH.

Keyless start is standard on all new BMW models starting at least with the F25 X3, maybe even sooner (F10?). Comfort access lets you keep your key in your pocket, don't need to press a button just put your hand on the door handle to unlock. But with or without comfort access, you do not even have a place to insert the key in the ignition.

This makes premium package useless. You could just pay for leather and save some $1300.
$1300 paid for comfort access and soft close doors. Too much.

IMO, it is all about keeping your key in your pocket or purse. Get a push button door lock for your home and you never have to take your key out. My wife loves it!

Keyless

Very interesting, if Keyless Start is standard then I think premium package is useless. But then "may be I'm wrong" how do you charge the Fob if there is no hole.

There is no charging
I'm not sure how long ago this was the case
It's not being charged since at least 2007 or older
It has no regargeble battery

Here's what I can contribute... I have a MSport with Premium package... Comfort Access and soft close doors: yes. Opening the rear door with a foot motion: no.

Correct, my Wife's X3 35i does not have Confort Access, yet you don't need to insert the key anywhere to turn it on, you need to use the key only to open the car. After that, as long as the key is somewhere inside the car, you can just press the start button and you are off, just like with cars with Confort Access.

I agree. Comfort access alone is sometimes a $500 option, when available on its own. The soft close doors seem useless to me, a bit gimmicky. So unless you really have to have the comfort access or satellite radio, the package is overpriced. For $500, I would do comfort access, not for $1250.....

You either don't have toddlers/babies or do have them and they are deep sleepers. Personally, this is priceless.
