Very interesting article on Ford/Microsoft's new Sync system! Could be the future!

I say keep MS technology out of the cars. Didnt BMW have a disaster with them back in the days.

Another good reason not to buy a Ford. Roll on the Blue Screen of Death jokes..... Quality is Job error #1705449

Now an Xbox 360 interface might be cool.

F Microsoft, and hope they keep their Winblows out of cars. All we need is more blue screens of death, memory sucking background updates, and constant windows popping up, "are you sure you want to do this?"

IDrive runs on VXworks not sure who developed it but I doubt microsoft would develop anything on a non-windows platform.

The only leap ford has is the price. It still blows my mind how much navigation systems cost in cars.

When iDrive first came out (in the 7-series) it was based on one of the embedded windows versions. All later versions of iDrive seem to be VxWorks based, and certainly the iDrive in all current cars is.
