Warrant and after market cosmetic parts

Hi all,

Do after market cosmetics affect the warranty? Like let's say I install the $89 eBay spoiler or the $250 front splitter replica, would that have a negative effect on factory warranty? Maybe even an OEM performance part that isn't purchased from BMW???

You would be better to get this information from your dealer anything on here would be guesses and hearsay

Listen bro....

...no dealer can void your warranty over a trunk spoiler attached with double-sided tape or a lip riveted to your bumper. Cosmetic upgrades like that wouldn't harm a thing. Now installing a JB4 that messed up something electrical in the vehicle "could" harm the warranty on the electrical parts, but it wouldn't harm the warranty if your shocks blew out. Understand where I'm going with this? The modification has to directly affect something for it to cause warranty issues.

You'll be fine!

P.S. A BMW dealer wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the OEM and replica parts anyway.

P.P.S. There are BMW employees rolling around in modified BMW's. If simple, non-invasive mods were really an issue, nobody would mod.

I feel like the dealer would just lie to me just to buy the products from them, if I were to ask them.

SedanClan: I'm asking because I find your friend's product such a good deal, I wanna make sure there will be no problem with the warranty. Thanks for your answer!

I am planning on getting the one from sedan because I doubt it will void anything.

AweSam8, you will be fine.

spoiler, splitter, side skirt won't avoid your warranty.
Intake, exhaust, down pipe, JB4... these aftermarket parts will avoid your warranty.
