In stacked and next step is LPFP. However....I have been running 40+% e85 for 6+ months. The recent BMS flash and myJB4 g5 is wicked.

I say get your car dialed in with a protune by a good knowledgeable shop that knows the N54 well.

A protune(as long as it is done by a shop that knows what they're doing in regards to the N54) will always result in the best running car. At one point in time the piggybacks boost control was hard to beat... but now that's no longer a reality. We have thousands of datalogs demonstrating the amazing boost control we have through Cobb's ATP.

I am trying to figure the same thing out right now except with a procede stack with the upgraded pump and flex fuel kit. Im starting to think I should just sell the procede and OFT and keep my Cobb and get it protuned for the upgraded pump instead. I love the idea of having the sensor but not sure if I love it enough to justify the cost of procede + oft + sensor compared to just cobb + pro tune. UGGG First world problems

I might try the stack option first and if I don't like the results I could always sell the jb n get a protune

Until the Pro Tuned cars start to show up at the top of the Drag Times listings I would/have stacked it.

What about those that are not pro tuned that got records on Drag Times and broke down after? I do not see how being listed on Drag Times equates to great quality tuning. I for one will never hit the quarter mile with my BMW even though I am very tempted.
Funny enough I just saw this posted on PTF's Facebook page: http://dragtimes.com/BMW--335xi-Drag-Racing.html Their protuned customer has the fastest 335 XI in the World now, on Drag Times. Maybe I should take mine out there after all and try it out. I just do not like the thought of breaking my axles right now.

1. A log showing true linear throttle, meaning WOT at or very near 100% pedal travel. So a stepped log for maybe 50, 80, 100% would be great. 2. Part throttle drivability. Lowish throttle 20 and 50%. Maybe a similar log as above stepping the throttle. I would be looking for boost control and timing interventions below WOT at throttle transitions. Edit: Cobb logs of course, as this is what you are promoting I assumed. Last edited by Joshboody; 10-02-2013 at 08:53 AM.. |

I too am in this same position. I'm about to purchase an 08 335i on Friday. My buddy is running the jb4g5 with 55% e85/45% 93 mix and the car runs awesome. sees 16-17# regularly and has ran a 12.0 at 117 mph with on his 20" vossesn. This is with no other modifications. I def like the piggy back option and how you can control the tunes & settings on the fly through the steering wheel.
I will eventually be running 100% e85. So I was thinking about purchasing the Rrocede Rev3 with the backend reflash to start with. Then moving into with the e85 conversion kit and the inline lpfp.. |

The 1/4 mile might not appeal to everyone but, since tuning is about extracting performance from a car, its good for quick & dirty for comparisons. Terminal speed is a good indicator of how much power the car actually has. There are any number of formulae that will convert terminal speed into a horsepower estimate. Additionally its always nice to see what a car can do in real life off the dyno. Both of the other two major BMW aftermarket tuners regularly post 1/4 runs as part of their standard marketing programs.
