CP-E E92 335i Exhaust - Prototype Shots

So about 2 weeks ago I had the opportunity to go visit Josh at CP-E in Beltsville, MD and meet him and the rest of the engineers at CP-E to see what they were all about. For those of you that don't know, CP-E is huge in the Mazda speed series aftermarket [Mazdaspeed 3, Mazdaspeed6, and even the CX-7(turbo)] producing high quality intakes, intercoolers, exhausts, and intercooler piping and most notably their StandBack software. They're even bidding to take over Racing Beat who is Mazda USA's aftermarket manufacturer to give you an idea of they're OEM fitment and quality.

On to the good news for us BMW (more specifically 335i) owners. They needed a prototype for the 335i coupes so I volunteered my car and below you'll see the results of their prototype exhaust - The quality is unparalelled to any exhaust I've seen yet on the forums. The fitment is perfect and the exhaust note is a nice deep smooth tone. I'll have videos/soundclips when the production exhaust gets fitted. These guys are no joke and have a lot instore for the 335i. Anyway on to the pictures from their shop and of the exhaust.

The CNC machine

Some post-production CNC'd MAF housings for Mazdaspeed 3 (i think)

Some post-production CNC'd 335 throttle body adapters

Their welder hand welding a CX-7 exhaust in their exhaust jig/template

Stock 335i exhaust off the car

CP-E Exhaust bolted up to the downpipes (notice it still fits all of the stock mounting points through out the whole exhaust - with no modification)

All exhaust joints fit together (no flanges) and will clamp together

Exhaust under rear axles

Before (stock under car)

After (CP-E under car)

Rear Shots

All piping on the CP-E exhaust will be 2.5" stainless mandrel-bent piping with two hand welded CP-E mufflers.

When I spoke with Josh he mentioned that the MSRP will be in the $1800 area and he will be offering an introductory price signifcantly lower for the first few production runs. All in all I was very impressed with the shop and their attention to detail and quality. Their website so you can take a preliminary look is www.cp-e.com

He also told me that they plan to produce BOV pipes which utilize the stock throttle body coupling and fit perfectly with the stock piping that goes to the intercooler. He said they plan to use Tial and HKS SSQV blow off valve flanges. Additionally they are developing their StandBack software which will have user-configurability through a USB interface. I met the lead software programmer and he is currently developing all of the StandBack programming. Lastly, I believe they're also going to develop an intercooler as well.

Nice thanks for sharing, interested in the sound clips. Looks like a clean install. I am interested in upgrading my exhaust but definetly don't want a buzzing drone sound while doing long hwy trips.

Whats so funny about it?

If I had the exhaust on the car still there would be videos/soundclips but that was the original prototype and it hasn't been produced yet.

I believe they are the same. No difference in design, and fits both perfectly.

Sidenote:
i'm wondering why they moved this thread from the 335i engine tuning forum to the engine (NA) drivetrain, exhaust forum??? Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't that for 325,328,330 (naturally aspirated BMWs)??

Nah, it was the right move. Your post is about the CP-E EXHAUST. So, it's in the "Under the Hood (NA-Engine) / Drivetrain / Exhaust Modifications" forum.

This is definitely one of the dumbest replies I've seen here. Why? So:
- nothing funny in the thread, just pure info with pics
- I know a few jokes, this is absolutely not like a joke
- how can U be so lame to put the whole post including all pictures in the quote?

I've seen some posts regarding your lame replies, maybe I also made some by myself before, but I have to repost it: Garrett - the turbo manufacturer - should sue U for misusing and ashaming his name.

I just spoke with Josh from CP-E today and the latest word from him is that they have 15 exhausts ready for shipment post-SEMA (10/29-11/4). I believe these are for E92 coupes they may also compatible on the E90 sedan as well - don't quote me on that. He said there are already 4 of the 15 first production exhausts spoken for. I'm not certain on the 'introductory pricing' but he also let on that the CP-E StandBack ECU should be completed and ready for vehicle testing in about 3 weeks. I'll try and keep you guys posted. For those looking for soundclips go to their website here --> http://www.cp-e.com/2043.html and they have a couple soundclips to hold you over for now.
