Mike's new toy
OK, so some people get a new (or another) car as a toy. I like to be a bit different!
So what else do you do with a brand new Enduro bike? With 5 miles on the clock, you start to get it dirty! Pain in the neck trying to run it in though! Husqvarna TE310R Road legal Enduro bike for "Green Lanes" 302cc DOHC 4 valves/cylinder Fuel Injected Husqvarna won't tell you the power or revs of this bike, but around 40 - 45bhp at 11,000rpm isn't too far away. Tipping the scales at 109kgs (plus mud), it is no slouch, but knobbly tyres on the road are scary! Mike |

If you mean the indicators, mirrors and the other stuff that breaks when you fall off - it's still in a box in my garage, never fitted. Otherwise, what else do you need?? It has Air Con (cold air or bloody freezing air) Comfort Access - err make that no locking...or ignition.....or key Sports seat (it's more comfortable standing up) Sport suspension (as above) It has a headlight (no switch though) It has a brake light (LED), but only pussies use brakes "Winter" tyres as standard. Almost runflat (12psi) And so many smiles-per-mile off road you wouldn't believe it! Bloody awful on tarmac though Mike |

Excellent. Have always loved Husqies.
I have to admit, recently I have found myself searching for a Yamaha WRs and KTM SXs on several occasions. If it wasn't for the other car, bikes, snowboards, surfboards, free weights etc taking up all the space in the garage.

Mike!
Awesome bike. Is it new or used? How do you rate it over the CRF? I've been trying to get approval for one all year, but I need a more agreeable wife unfortunately - such selfish indulgences are not allowed in our house.... There's always something "more important" to pay for.... Last edited by doughboy; 09-23-2013 at 03:30 AM.. |

I've only done 70 miles on the Husky, and most of those have been on the road as I'm trying to run it in a bit. The Husky is a little taller on the seat - maybe half an inch, and as I found out when my paddock stand didn't fit, about an inch less ground clearance under the frame. Husky is a little lardier too - the CRF tipped the scales at 109kgs. I've just put the Husky on the scales and it weighs 118kgs (both with full fuel). The Husky feels a lot lighter at the front than the Honda. Engine-wise, they are very different. The CRF is like riding a 2-stroke. It will potter at 3000revs under protest, but will cope. 5000revs it will climb a small hill. Hit 8000 revs and it will fly all the way round to 12000 or 13000 if you let it. A real adrenaline surge and a great feeling. The Husky has instant power and torque all the way. I haven't fitted the rev counter yet, but on some technical slow stuff, where the Honda will take it slow and easy, with the slightest throttle movement, the Husky will just fly, so I need to take extra care until I get used to it, or it will bite me. I may gear it down when I see what it's revving at on the road. I was cruising at 55 yesterday and went to overtake a few cars - gave it a tweak, glanced at the speedo, and I was doing 67mph and still going. The Honda was geared for just over 80mph at 13k, but I never let it get over 11750 in any gear. The 6th gear on the Husky is an overdrive, but the middle 4 are very close ratio indeed. Noise: the CRF sounds like what it is - a renegade racer. Approaching the powerband, it twitters with the valve overlap, then just howls. When the Husky comes on the cam, it just sounds angry! I'll let you know a bit more when I'm more used to it (read: fallen off it a few times) Go on - you know you want one! If you're over this way, let me know - you can have a run up the road on it, then you'll HAVE to persuade the Good Lady Mike |

Sounds great Mike.
I went out recently for a blast round the lanes and some farm tracks with a chap from the village, him on his 1952 Royal Enfield trials bike and he lent me an old DR250, really enjoyed it.... just need my own bike now. There's just so many used bargains about, I can't decide what I'd like from one week to the next.. |
