Turbos
Ok, I know I am going to get a lot of flame for this but how hard/expensive would it be for me to add the two turbos to my engine? I believe this is possible right??

Putting two turbos on a 328 would
1. Cost far more that it would have to just buy a 335. 2. Be far less reliable. 3. Forget resale. Only a fool would buy a turbo 328 4. Eventually the engine would crap out. Was never made to have FI. Just wait till you get older and have your own money and buy a nice car. Either that or trade in the car for a Evo, Sti, Supra, 300z, 3000GT, etc.

I'm sure U can find a tuning shop which can do it for U. Just find a really hardcore one, cuz this will need the following:
- 1 or 2 turbos - exhaust manifold(s) - custom exhaust(s) - intercooler - intake - MAP sensor - upgraded injectors and fuelpump - stronger water/oil cooler - reinforced engine internals - new ECU with custom SW (use google to look for haltech or motec or similar) also would be in doubt your clutch and transmission will be up to par, among others so go and prepare your parents for an investition at hight of another car + dont forget to tell them in case of anything goes wrong U have no varranty on the car and dont forget to put a nice smile on your face PS: sorry, I just could not stand it. This is one of the funniest requests I've seen on e90post so far

trade up to a 335i.
Horsepower Freaks started a project turbo car and they did complete it. The problem is that they couldn't get around the ECU and it never kept boost. Pretty much a failure as they've just put it on the back burner. And they mentioned their kits would sell at 8k to 9k. With that much, you could just upgrade to a 335. Search them on this forum, there is a LONG thread about their project. Nevermind..i'm feeling nice today. Here's the link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...sepower+freaks |

Coming from someone who has turbo'd NA cars, just sell your car and buy a 335 if you want to turbo your car. After all of the time, money, work, and aggravation that you will put into your 328, its just not worth it at the end of the day. Sell your car, buy a 335, add a piggyback, and sit back and enjoy the reliable power that you never would have had with your turbo'd 328.

Another thing to consider is that there is no off the shelf kit that is going to bolt right onto your car, and even when there is, that is still a headache. Just imagine how much fun it is when you go the custom route.

Thanks for the input...I guess i will not be doing this. The only reason I asked was that I cant just switch to a 335 because the car is not under my name and I will never be able to convince them to sell it even if i pay for it.

not really, if you had paid for it, then it would be your car. You can do whatever you want with YOUR car. BUt since it's not your car, don't f with it, just be happy that you're lucky enough to be allowed to drive it.

Well it is my car but, since I was not 18 when it was purchased, it was not able to be bought in my name.

If you really want to put 2 turbos then sell the 328 and get the 335i, or get you a older M-3 and get it turbo(single turbo) or a S/C M-3, don't waste a dime on trying to get a 328I fast. |

Like everyone said, Just keep it the same man. There's no need to go through all that trouble. It's like putting a ///M badge on a non-M car. I would wait and just enjoy the lease or buy(Not sure). Then trade or upgrade.

If they bought it for you and you are now 18, ask if you can have the title transferred. If they owe on a loan then the bank would have to approve and you're out of luck. Anyway, if you can get title even 12to24 months from now, it will be a heck of a trade in with any cash you save for your next car of choice.
My parents bought me a used toyota tercel for 6k when I graduated highschool. They put 2500 down, I wrecked it 3 months later and had to come up with the 3500 myself to pay it off. It was in there name but they wern't taking a hit on it and it was not insured for my stupidity. Oh, back then I was working at the mall for minimum wage which was about $4.75 cents an hour. $3500 about killed me. Count your blessings. |
