How to launch 335 6mt Procede??

I'm going to the drag strip tomorrow and need some tips on how to launch my e92 6mt with procede. I have stock RFT and my only engine mod is the procede. Launching rpms, shifting rpms, tire pressures, etc.??? any tips will help.
Thanks in advance.

Hey, I just did that for the 1st time Monday. For Monday the weather was about as bad as it gets....mid 90s and humid w/ track temps around 96/97.

Here is my insight:

Launch rpm - I was pumping the rpms up and down to keep boost up and launching at around 3000rpms w/ a slightly slipping clutch while feeding on the power. Its a delicate dance w/ the stock RFT to get good 60 ft times. The best I managed was a 2.0x 60 ft which I think it damned good w/ the RFT.

Tire pressure wont make a lick of difference IMO w/ the RFT, the sidewalls are too stiff to allow a larger contact patch. They are designed to run w/ 0 psi afterall.

From there, I shifted as quick as possible into 2nd at around 6500rpms, letting off the gas for a split second for the shift.

3rd and 4th gear I shifted around 6300rpms and did not let off the gas at all....kept it to the floor. I was fast enough that the rpms did not bounce the rev limiter at all resulting in good shifts.

Make sure to post a report of how it went either here or in the forced induction/335 forum.

here is a video of my best run against a slightly tuned E46 M3

Goodluck!

Matt

Atlanta Drayway
elevation: 1002 ft.
weather: about 65 degrees
mods: Procede 1.47
tires: stock RFT
here's my best slip
r/t .571
60 2.299
330 5.907
1/8 8.868
mph 84.05
1000 11.374
1/4 13.496
mph 105.23
not the best times i guess but i couldn't get traction if my life depended on it.
i would spin all of 1st and most of 2nd. Damn RFT. With a good set of tires I think I could've bought my time down atleast 2/10th of a second or more.

no, the best R/T possible is a .500 (unless you're racing funny cars and cars of that calibur... where the tree goes top yellow, striaght to green) ... so his .571 is damn good, thats seventy-one one-thousenths of a second off perfect...

Although i would expect a littler better from the procede... getting a .571 it sounds like you know what you're doing and can drive a track well... i had gotten a 13.077 @ 107 mph with a SSTT of course on RFT's aswell.

damn, 13.077@107 is very impressive. I think the evevation had a lot to do with my results. My friend with a E92 335 step/JB2 ran a 13.7xx for his best run. A C6 vette/6mt ran a 13.5xx for his best run but he was having bad traction issues too. Another guy with a E46 SC M3 conv. ran a 13.4xx for his best run. I think the track played a big part in all of our results. Either way, time for some new tires/wheels God i hate the run flats

Is this the confirmed way to have the quickest launch? I'm having trouble getting traction off the line.

i rev to about 1900, any more i find on the track and you sit spinning. but on the street you can go to like 2700 and launch well.

With good tires and an LSD, use the handbrake to build boost, and let it rip. Just make sure that you have the thumb button all the way in and that you get the handle all the way down!
