Question Stubborn brake dust on my wheels

Hello y'all. My first wash. I washed my new E90 325i yesterday and had a hell of a time getting the black brake dust off the wheels. Firstly, I used my usually reliable Zaino Show Car Wash, but it wasn't getting it done. I resorted to Turtle Wax 2001 Foaming Wheel Cleaner, but even this stuff wasn't so great. It was a battle. I love the look of the wheels, but they are HARD to clean. Can anyone out there give me some good advice, please. Thanks !

Water and a sponge works great for me...I haven't used anything else since I bought the car -- just wash it often and you won't have the problem with brake dust setting in. A light brush will help with the crevices and such.

once you get them clean, put some wax/sealer on them and they will wash easily without chemicals the next time. I would recommend collinite 845 which is found at some Advance Auto stores in the marine section, it is very durable.

Try Eagle One A2Z wheel cleaner. Spray on when the wheels are dry and agitate with a sponge. Than like ga-bmwdrvr said, apply some wax or sealant.

Brake Dust

Only three weeks and 200 miles of brake dust. These were the initial 200 miles on this new car....just picked it up right before Thanksgiving.

I just use the Meguiar's Gold Class car wash and a wet sponge - works like a charm. I would avoid those spray on cleaners - the harsh chemicals will eat away at your rims.

Just order it online:

There's probably a package with the sealant as well.

Found this article on Bimmerworld, supposedly these brake pads reduce Brake Dust by 400%

This is a good article over at bimmerfest:

When I get my car, I'll try this Klasse All in One and Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze.

Silly rabbits. Tricks are for kids.

Simple Green! Spray some full strength SG on a wet tire/wheel and work it in with a brush. I also use a terry towel to get the hard to reach areas. It works great and no chemicals. And it's cheap!

I used to wax my rims on my old car but I found that while it made them look great it made it even harder to clean them the next time it was almost like the wax would heat up and cake the dust on more heavily...
