About to walk into my first local BMW club meeting.

I'm kinda nervous about this. Hope they're cool and not a bunch of rich dicks. They're probably just a bunch of other guys who are just happy to get away from their wives and kids one night a week

Any of you guys members of your local BMW organizations?

Great group at our local BMWCCA chapter. We meet at a local BBQ joint once a month, club picks up a good chunk of dinner. Wide range of folks, men AND women. A couple of the women are more rabid than the men.

So go, have fun, no need to be nervous. I think you will find that they are a pretty down-to-earth bunch.

I have been a member a long time and the club meets are really to share the enjoyment of the marque. I have never experienced a snobbish attitude at the chapters I have been associated with both north and south.
Go enjoy yourself...

Haha everyone in the BMWCCA here are in their 40-50s, not that it's a bad thing, but I'm 22 so we're at totally different stages in life. I wish there was a group of BMW owners here in their 20s.

Iv gone to owner's club meets before with my previous cars and all I found it to be was a load of stuck up pricks thinking their better than you because their car's better. My 1st car was an mg zr and the owners club meets for them were great, such a laugh, everyone was included and around my age.

Ok here are my observations from tonight's meeting. I guess it was a general meeting but we really didnt talk about cars very much at all.

Here are the texts I sent my gf as the general meeting progressed:

• Well this must be the place. A bunch of bmws parked out front. It's hilarious because they all leave one space between each car. Just like I do.

• Holy fuck. These guys are OLD. like average age 60+. And rich. And all white. Except for one Asian dude.

• So so so much older. This is like a real club. With minutes and and agenda and stuff. Wow. I thought it was a retirement party or something

• They're talking about budgets and stuff.

• They have elections for their executives and stuff.

• This club IS their hobby. They're trying to book meeting rooms now.

• They have a constitution and stuff.

• A LOT of hearing aids in this crowd. Lots of golf shirts and slip on shoes too.

• Now discussing sponsors for their newsletter.

• It's starting to get more interesting.

• Hmmm...I didn't know that I got parts discount at both dealerships.

• Starting to get more interesting.

• Lots of nice cars here. Lots of Ms

• Ooh. Some tension over club issues. Ooh! Tension!

• One old guy just got told. By another old guy.

• He's not happy.

• The human drama is riveting!

• One guy just said "disc jockey". Instead of DJ

• They're now discussing how to properly promote the Christmas party.

• I feel like I'm on a condo board. They're discussing bylaws and stuff.

• They do organize some pretty cool events though.

So while it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, it wasn't bad. They do plan some interesting and cool events though. Plus the parts discount is nice. But we barely talked about cars. It's very...structured. Plus I'm pretty sure I was the youngest person in the room by at least 10 years and I'm 32. Saw some sweet cars. E34 M5, E90 M3, 1M. Hopefully more cars next time.

I roll with EuroSunday and it's awesome to be around those people, plus that's how you start building your network too. Thinking about taking my buddy up on a BBK hook up next year.

Lol that would be so lame. I don't like those kind of meetings, everything is so formal. I even feel like meets are whatever unless you know the people personally.

"So I just installed coilovers"
"Damn bro, what tires shine is that?"
