(E93) 335i with PROcede VS. (E92) 335i = Who Win's...???
Guys, im very curius about this. Sorry if this is a repost. I searched and didn't find anything.
I was wondering who would win a PROcede'd 335i VERT (E93) or a stock auto/stick 335i coupe (E92)......? Discuss? Comments? All welcomed. What do you guys think?

I would say the E93. The horsepower gain would off set the additional weight of the car.

I wasn't kidding. I thought the E93 was really heavy. I thought the PROcede 335i vert would be the same as a coupe? Guess not?

400 lb is nothing if you look at the overall weight of the car. It is a few tenths of a second. Then you take Procede which adds that back and more.

The E93 will win, but not by as much as some seem to think here.
From a 30-120 mph rolling run starting in 2nd gear, I'd say the PROceded E93 will win by 1-1.5 CL's The E93 is 375 lbs more in weight. That means it needs about 37-38 rwhp just to equal the power to weight ratio of the stock 335i Coupe. The PROcede v1.47 gives you about 45-50 rwhp. So the E93 with the PROcede v1.47 in a sense has a HP advantage of roughly 10-12 rwhp....that's it. |

What about the large difference in torque, to get the heavier vehicle moving quicker, i think that would play a major part. I think the e93 will still whoop the stock e92

Maybe from a dead stop that torque will help a bit. But to be honest, it just means the e93 driver would have to modulate the throttle more or launch a bit less aggressively to get a good launch. Plus the stock e92 335i launches pretty easily by comparison. You can brake torque the thing up to about 2000 rpms and then just mash the throttle and lift off the brake and you are off and running with just a bit of tire chirping. The E93 driver with PROcede v1.47 is going to have to launch with a bit more control to keep the low end torque from just spinning the wheels or setting off the traction control. It will still have more of an advantage from a stop to be sure. With a perfect launch from both in a 1/4 mile run, I'd give the PROcede e93 the win by 2 CL's In rolling runs (you almost always start at 3500+ rpms) it's all about hp then (power to weight). With the PROcede v1.47 e93 having only approximately 10-12 rwhp advantage when power to weight is taken into account, it will creep away, but it surely won't be running. As I stated, I'd put money on a 2nd gear rolling start of around 30-40 mph and going to 120 mph the PROcede v1.47 e93 won't have more than 12 feet of air between it's rear bumper and the stock e92's front bumper and possibly less. |

We have done street starts between a proceded e93 and a standard 335ì e92 and the e93 did walk away, even if not so much.
The test was done with the e93 open topped and therefore we did not reach very high speed. However please note that the roof folded in the boot puts much more weight over the real wheels, therefore traction is improved. I noticed it when I drag-launch open topped. As with the increase of horsepower (Procede 2.0) traction become THE issue, the e93 would probably see part of its weight handicap cancelled by the increased traction.

agree with stefano here, my e93 is deceptively fast.
With roof in open position it not only launches faster but to my mind actually seems a little better balance around the bends too. It's NOT the lard beast that you'd imagine ! SJ |

Well it is 375 lbs heavier than the coupe.
That's A LOT of added weight for a convertible. Not saying the e93 isn't a fast car, especially with a PROcede. But you guys need to drive an e92 with a PROcede and see the difference. There is no doubt adding the weight of TWO full grown men (each about 190 lbs) will slow a car down, and negate most of the advantage the PROcede will give to an e93 when compared to the e92. Again, I have no doubt the PROceded e93 won't still beat a stock e92, but it won't nearly be by as much as an e93 vs e93. And true that added weight over the rear wheels will help the e93 launch, but that helps for the first 20-30 mph, after that, the added weight starts to hurt forward momentum. And from a roll that added weight only hurts acceleration. |

This is a testable hypothesis. Someone with a E93 & PROcede go drag an E92. I think it would be very close.
Road course the E92 rules.
