What wood trims are available for the e90?
My Burl walnut trim cracked and BMW can't seem to match the new piece color to the rest of my trim. So they said they might have to replace the entire trim, which got me thinking about a switch. I would really like piano black, but not sure it can be ordered. Maybe if European cars can get it, I can order it, and pay the difference, if it costs more. I see e92 has Glacier Silver Trim, and gloss black-DiamondSchwartz, etc. Anybody know what trims CAN be ordered for the e90?

Yeah, no kidding. C'mon, they don't show the special trims like Glacier Silver Trim, gloss black-DiamondSchwartz, CF, etc. I am looking for all of the trims BMW makes, that may be ordered.

They can't because they will need to provide BMW with a Individual VIN# so they approve the sell of the part, I want it the piano black trim and that is what the dealer told me

Time to start stalking the ritzier areas and steal a VIN
Really, that's very frustrating when you know something is available but is being withheld due to exclusivity. Black sapphire/black/piano trim would be my first choice if it were available. Perhaps there's a dealer with less scruples who'd be willing to bend the rules for a few dollars. |

they can loose their job and the dealer will be fined for doing that if someone discovered this rule bending. If I was an individual bmw owner, I would not be happy knowing my individually expensive options is also made available to just about anyone (then why call it individual ).

haha, I wasn't trying to be funny, but I think your dealership is not going to order a speciality order trim for warranty replacement, especially not the individual series trims (VIN-specific)

hey Beau,
like everyone's said, the individual trim won't happen due to the lack of a individual series VIN. I want to say I remember someone saying the Glacier Silver is basically a cheap version of the Aluminum trim...like the alum-style part of the shift knob. What I'd like to do, and what you might want to ask the dealer; is to have all the trim professionally painted (I'd get Jet Black). What dealer did you get yours at again? Erhard? Bavarian?

VIN specific man. Even if you're buddy buddy with the parts manager, when he places the order, BMW AG is not going to ship it to him without a VIN

Gonna be hard, especially when there aren't any BMW Individual 3ers in the US market. I would scout out German Ebay for either the diamondschwartz trim (much cheaper than Piano Black, same effect) or custom paint your own trim (PM Swoop, he just had his done). So far , that I've seen, we have the titansilver (silver plastic), light poplar, burl, and aluminum on the E90s. Special items include the OEM Black CF (pricey). Individual opens up more specialty woods including the much sought after Piano Black.

Quick question guys, I've come across a number of Individual spec BMW's here in So.Cal (...i.e...leather wrapped Individual dashes/seats, etc.), and I know that these people ordered parts from dealerships. Any explanations?
