335i vs 535i?

Hello All. Im gonna be going to college next year and for my graduation gift id love to get a LCI 535i. I currently have a pre-lci 328i. And I was wondering for those of you who know. How major a difference there is in the 335i vs the 535i. I know the 535i isnt as fast but if i put a JB4 on it there shouldent be much of a diffrence right? I also just love the look and class of the 5 series! Opinions please!

I remember reading in car and driver last year that they said the 535 was a dog. They said it was so underpowered it drove them nuts. Why not a 2010-11 E90 M-Sport 335?

The thing is Id rather move up to a 5 series than stay with another 3 series. If i get really lucky an M5 but most likely a 535i

so for your high school graduation gift you want a 5 series?

trust me, the way kids drive in college, you're not going to want to have to parallel park a 5 series. go with an e90 335

You answered your own question dude....
If you want a 5, then get a 5. What's the point of asking when people are giving you their opinions but you've already got your mind set on something else?

A 335i will be faster (slightly), a 535i will be larger.

Just asking to see if people who have owned both could tell me which they more preferred.

That's two words, just sayin'

I don't know if I would consider a 5 series to be "moving up." They're totally different cars designed with two different goals. The 3 series tends to be more sporty, while the 5's are big luxury sedans. It's not like the 5 series is automatically better or anything; just different. It all comes down to what kind of driving experience you're looking for.

335is; that's what I got for college. Although I'm on the east coast and I'm not bringing my car until senior year.

If 535 is going to be too slow, maybe look into a 550?

I would test drive what ever your interested in, then go with what you like the best!!

About $10k more (maybe even more used since it's rare and out of production). But also, N54 engine, more hp, more torque + overboost, DCT transmission from the M3, custom cosmetic differences and a unique exhaust that is only found in the 335is
