New E63 arrived - err not.
Some of you may remember I've sold my 335i and ordered a new E63 AMG Estate a while back.
Delivery was due mid September, getting excited, and then the bad news..... Due to a manufacturing fault with panoramic sunroofs on the new E63 estate my car is delayed unit 18th DECEMBER!!! WTF! So my options are (I know, I know, tough choices): a) sit tight and wait (with £750 rebate) b) change to a saloon E63 for Late Nov delivery. c) Get an M5 instead, factory order for mid Nov delivery. The M5 has come up elswhere at £10/month higher lease price than the E63 (£489/m + vat at 6+23, bonkers!), but when you add the de-rigeur 20" wheels (2.5 grand), privacy glass (£400), sun blind (£450) it goes up by about £80/month, and it has a lot less standard equipment than the E63 like: No decent wheels No decent hifi No comfort access No self parking No sunroof No power boot No leather effect stitched dash No Fancy seats No sun blinds No extra 12v sockets Not even any reading lights in the back!! No freakin folding rear seats!!!! on a 80K car!! By way of apology, the Merc leasing agency has offered me £750 off the deposit to sit tight and wait for the existing order rather than cancel. So; honest opinions: E63 on Dec 18th or M5 mid Nov ??? Last edited by doughboy; 09-08-2013 at 06:41 AM.. |

This thread needs to burnt lol... doughboy, wait for the AMG..... mid Nov / Mid Dec.... if you're going to wait until mid Nov, chances are there COULD also be a slight delay there.... so might aswell wait for a car that's better spec'd....and a change of brands .... I'm sure it'll be so worth it, plus since it'll be so close to Xmas, it'll be like all xmas in one and then some

I would also wait for the Merc. There must have been a reason why you wanted the Merc to start with.

That's what I love about this forum. Good honest answers
I really want to wait for the Merc and it's nice to have that reinforced by you guys too! It's only few weeks after all - nice christmas pressy to myself. As said, with good reason I chose the E63 over the M5 first off, nothing has changed and the E63 is still the uber car it was then. roll on xmas....... |

Your list of what the M5 doesn't have, by itself, is justification to wait!

Hey great stuff guys - 100% merc vote - on a BM forum!
Peugeot Bipper work van (1.25 litre 75bhp with optional AM/FM radio). 335i dosh (all paid up) bought a nearly-new Mini Countryman Cooper S All-4 for the missus - that was the deal, if I want a new car then the missus has to have one too, not daft them indoors you know. Ironically the "mini" is more spacious in many areas than the 335i tourer, masses of rear leg and head room and only 20 litres less boot space! Quote:

Very pricey to lease £1k/month minimum, besides, too quiet, a bit dull (i.e. audi-ish) and 4 wheel drive is for girls Last edited by doughboy; 09-08-2013 at 02:00 PM.. |

So I'm going to go against the grain and say that, because I'm horribly impatient when it comes to things like this, I'd probably swap for the E63 saloon.

Mike, stick with the Merc, it sounds like a stormer, and that's coming from not a huge Merc fan! If you want any M5 insight, PM M3 FST, as Paul took delivery of his M5 last Monday. He's in love with it. But, bet you'll feel the same about the AMG-Wagon though. The way this year has rattled by it'll be Christmas before you know it. I'd also push for more stuff - are they any 'performance' add-ons available (splitters, gear-knobs, etc) as these are relatively cheap things for a dealer/lease company to negotiate at cost.
