HELP car wont turn on or move

i know this is the wrong section but i did an answer quick thxx.
So my parents were driving in their x5 and the car just stopped and won't turn on or move. The engine light turned on and then went to a dead stop. They are towing it to the dealership.. What is wrong with the car? the car is a 2011 with 17k on it

I'm taking a shot in the dark here but...I'm thinking they got a flat tire and kept driving until they where on the rim and then down to the frame which created a huge stress on the motor which in turn over heated it and it seized up.

Really? How are people supposed to diagnose a car problem with "it just stopped"?
