Confused about Comfort Access

I tried searching the forums, but couldn't find another thread about this...

Is comfort access synonymous with keyless start or are they separate options? I really want both, but I never seem to see keyless start mentioned, only CA.

Am I blind? is it standard? do very few cars have it?

Thanks!

Keyless start is only available through comfort access (though there is a pointless way to start your car without the key)

If you have comfort access and your keyless start is not working, there is a problem with your key. My first e92 had comfort access and the keyless start stopped working one day. I had to replace the key (lost my spare)

Sometimes the battery in the fob needs to be replaced, not sure this is your solution or not.

I should've been clearer, my mistake. I'm just starting my search for an E90/92, but I don't ever remember keyless start being listed, yet it seems like every car in the classifieds that I look at, whether it has CA or not shows the key in the slot when the car is on.

So am I understanding correctly that when you have CA you have keyless start? or is it a option that requires CA first?

With CA you can start the car with the key in your pocket, however you can still insert it in the slot if you so desire, or to let you start the car incase the battery in the FOB dies. Without CA you have to put the FOB in the slot to start the car.

CA also allows you to lock/unlock the car with the key in your pocket through the use of a touch sensor on the door handle.

Do cars without comfort access have those raised ridges on the outside door handles on the front? It's where I touch the door handle to lock the car. Just wondering if there's a way to tell if a car has it or not just by visual.

No they do not. The ridges are only for CA.
