How old is your battery? If its original, you will need to buy one. Also, when car running test your defroster and REST feature. I be these dont work if you have a weak battery. this happened to me. I bought a new battery and problem solved.

Had this happen more than one time on my e46. Not sure if the same applies to your car but I found that the car didnt start until it was connected to a running car for a few minutes. That really only happened to me when I had drained the battery pretty hard. Needless to say I take more care now and make sure I dont let the battery drain like that s Im sure it's not good for it's health.

A friend of mine help out did the same as you and got it running... But will get a new battery not from BMW since they like to brake peoples arm in prices.

If its white in color and made by Exide they run about $160.00 at the dealership Thats how much I paid. No need to register. Also, no need for coding if replaced with same specs from BMW.

Call the dealership again and get a quote on the battery only. You can replace it yourself and save about 250.00 dlls. Cheers!

Try giving them the part number from your existing battery. When I gave them my part number, my part guy at the dealership said a new part number is avaiable with a battery with more CCA (cold cranking amps) for our cars.

This is the part# from my new battery: 61-21-7-586-961

i just checked thats the same part number your battery has.

If the $300 price includes registration (necessary on all E90 models), it's not a bad deal.

Also has the car been in for the battery cable connection recall?

Lots of folks try to avoid the dealer, but this can be more costly in the long run - especially given the BMW electrical systems.

Necessary on all E90 models 07 and newer only, and with AGM batteries. 05-06 models with acid lead bateries dont require registration.

Again im not an expert but this is what I was told at my dealership.

Cheers!

I buy parts and have them install for less...water pump and thermostat is over $1000 on the dealer i pay way less for that.

I told them about that recall and they told me i don't need it... And coding the batterie i can get that for free
