Newbie with an 06 330i

Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum, I just got my learners permit, Im 16 and my dad owns a salvage yard (used auto parts business) out on long island. So he has connections with all the dealers,body shops, other yards, etc. So he gets a call from a body shop out in long beach and the guy says he has an '06 330i that he wants to get rid of. Since it was flooded by Hurricane Sandy my dad got it for $2500. The problem is that the salt water corroded all the wiring in the car. Luckily the water didnt get that high. it got right to the bottom of the fuse box. I took out the whole interior myself. I got power to the car but i didnt start the engine because i know its fine. The car has a clear title. My dad said we can buy a donor car car that was hit at COPART or IAA and take the wiring from it and put it in the sandy car. Or we could take body parts from the sandy car and put it on the donor. The thing is that the donor car would have a salvage title. What do guys think I should do? Oh and I want to change the interior, so Im parting it out. Its a beige interior with that dark wood trim. Its not the sport interior. My number is 631-559-O734 hmu if you need any parts. My dad actually has a lot of bmws in the yard that he's parting out. Thats what my dad specializes in (bmw). he drives an '04 e60 545i and a white 1987 E24 BMW L6 with gold 18'' bbs rims. so text me if you need anything and please give me your thoughts and advice on what I should do. I want me first car to be perfect!

Never buy a flooded car.... Better yet never buy a flooded BMW.. Unless you want to have fun with replacing electronics the whole time you have it.

I would go the route of putting the body parts etc from the flooded car onto the non-flooded but wrecked car.

I think you guys are right. It would be much easier, but when the time comes and i want to sell my car will i get as much money even though it has a salvage/rebuilt title? Also I was thinking of putting a body kit on it and a set of rims when the car is done being fixed. please give me your ideas,thoughts and opinions on what kit and wheel I should choose. I really like VMR's but i just dont know what style to choose.

If you do it yourself you will save on the labour but the cost of the replacement parts and the headaches with trying to swap everything out would be a nightmare. You may find the cost of doing all this is more expensive then buying a used one in good shape.

All good points, but from a learning perspective with readily available parts and help from his Dad - what a wicked way to spend time and learn!

I say - go for it; the experience and knowledge you'll get will be priceless and.. you never know, it may lead you down a career path!

I hate when people sell flooded salvaged cars as clean titles and don't disclose it was flooded before..

Knowingly selling a (flooded) salvaged veh as a clean titled car does constitute fraud...

Don't fix the flooded car. First, it would be illegal (and extremely dishonest) to sell a flooded car and not disclose it has been flooded to the DMV.
Second, even if you replace all the wires, these cars have so many sensors, modules and motors that it would be a nightmare - you will be replacing sensor after sensor for the rest of your ownership.

Lol calm down guys.. He didn't say he was going to fix it and then sell it.. It's his first car/BMW and he's getting help from his dad so it'll be a fun project car and learning experience on a BMW.

He probably doesn't plan to flip it right away, but it will be sold eventually.

ok, for all you guys that think im going to fix it and sell it right away. I get what you're all saying but thats not what I had in mind. I wasnt thinking of scamming people into buying the car or lying to the dmv. I just want an e90 and I want it to be great. I just think that it would be a fun father son project. plus thats just how my family does it. we fix damaged cars from the insurance auctions and we fix them then drive them. My family never buys them from dealerships.

yes but he doesnt really update it. its www.aaronauto.com but he has an ebay store too. we add parts like everyday. I dont think theres any e90 stuff though. we only have one in the yard and theres not much left of it. heres the link to his ebay site:
