5 year service pack offer

Got an email from the dealer offering me the 5 year service pack for £425. Does that sounds a good deal? He reckons the approx costs for service are as follows for my 325d:

1st Oil & Micro-filter service £275.00 due at 2 years or approx 16-18,000 miles

Brake Fluid Service £103.00 due at 3 years old

2nd Oil & Micro-filter service £275.00 due at 4 years or approx 32-36,000 miles

Vehicle Check service £150.00 due at 4 years or approx 32-36,000 miles

Airfilter and Fuel Filter £180.00 due at approx 48,000 miles or just before the end of the 5 years

3rd Oil & Micro-filter service £285.00 depends when last oil service done, usually around 48,000 miles

I dont drive many miles so it would always be the time limit rather than miles that trigger these

I got the service pack for that price when I bought mine at beginning of year. I do just shy of 12,000 miles / year but the fact the pack stays with the car will help resale. Nice to lump it in with the price and know you won't have the £275 to pay as a one off at least...

I am in the same boat as I do not do many miles in my 328i but brought the 5 years service pack.

I got the pack as it was a way of protecting myself from any future price increases and also it got it paid up front and out of the way, as it were. I was quoted slightly higher prices for the services / checks etc.

I still think it represents ok value for money, but not as much as the guys who do the higher miles - it is a bit of a no brainer for them, I think.

Not sure if you know or not but you also get free oil top ups as and when required.

Well over 5 years you're likely to get through brake pads and discs etc. but they're not doing you the 'plus' version right?

I think it's worth it unless you know an Indy who does it as good for less dosh...

Only in the US... Hasn't effected European cars yet.

My mother and sister have each recently bought the 3 series from UK main dealers (cars were under 12 months old when bought). Neither have service pack and selling MD never mentioned this... Can it be bought retrospectively? Thanks

Yes, it can be brought retrospectively - there used to be a 60 day limit, but not sure if that still exists.

I would just ring BMW customer service or your local dealership
