HELP - Lease buyout advice 2011 335i

Need some advice......My lease is up on my 2011 335i, Sport, Premium, Nav, Heated Seats, Paddle Shifters. Car only has 10,700 miles, it was driven as a weekend car only. Car is just as new. Here's my question. Lease buyout is $31,700, is it worth it to buy out the lease considering what used 2011 E90's are going for? Local dealers here in Georgia have similar cars, only CPO'd, not nearly the condition or low miles, going for ~$38K asking price.

Very interested in all your thoughts. I love the car, but don't want to throw money at a bad deal so need your advice. Let me know what you think. I went to BMW and discussed dynamic pricing and a few dealerships stuck to the residual price. They want crazy amounts for CPO or extended warranty. I just want to get your thoughts on what I should do. I appreciate your help and comments.

You spend about $25,000 to put 10,000 miles on the car. Why not pay $31,000 to put another 70,000-90,000 on it.

Seems like a no brainer to me........

I think that is a a fair buyout for it considering the miles.

These cars depreciate fairly quickly, though - even with low miles, so just watch out and get out of it if you see it going down too much and want something else.

Extended warranty should run maybe 3-4k, but that should last you a long time, so it seems like a good idea.

If you want to continue to own a 335 and you are happy with the one you have I think you should buy it out. Even if you found a little bit better deal by letting them take it over and buying a CPO you still don't have the piece of mind of knowing exactly how the car has been taken care of and its true history.

And next time maybe not lease in the first place. If your going to end up buying out the car it almost always costs you more to lease then buy than just buying the car in the first place.

Out of curiosity what was the sticker price on the car if you don't mind me asking.

x2

If you don't put on the max mileage on the lease while you have it, you are just giving thousands of dollars to the dealer for free.

The sticker was $51,300. I forgot to mention that I actually assumed the lease from a guy in Texas. He paid 18 months worth of payments plus the $3,000 down and I just took over the lease. I assumed the car with mileage of ~5,000 and I really don't drive it that much either. So I'm in the car for 18 payments at $554 per month. It seems the buyout is reasonable, now that I think about it.

like what people said...if you're happy with the car and not thinking of getting another then buy it out. You know the history of the car and it's low mileage.

If you're thinking of getting a new car...trade that pristine 335 and put the equity into the new car. You can trade in a lease and negotiate the trade in value.

You practically have a new car. No brainer than to take it. Do you have another low mileage that you liked?

No brainer. You got two more years on the warranty. Get the extended for another $2-3K
It's a new car.
I put 35K on my car in a a year and a half.

buy it out and sell it. I bought a car similar minus NAV from FL in low 30's. That is a gem of a car. The N55 is a dream. Plus - I've average 32/33 on the freeway.

Buy it and give it to your grandson when he is able to drive at about 50k miles

But seriously... just buy it and keep driving it while the car is under 100k miles. Just make sure you change the motor oil every year (based on time cuz your low mileage). Also change your brake fluid every 2 years, consider a time interval for the other fluids as well. This car will work well just as long as you keep it in good condition. I would also urge you to only fill up enough fuel so you have to keep getting a fresh fill at least once a month (so maybe just do 3 or 4 gals of gas being pumped at a time... not a full tank of fuel). Also please consider that you will need new tires when the tires reach about the age of 5 or 6 years old regardless of how much tread life is on them (Rubber doesn't age well).

In the future... if you plan on getting another vehicle, you should HIGHLY consider just getting a CPO vehicle which is already depreciated to 59% of the original MSRP (but still has the CPO warranty)... then just drive it till the wheels fall off.

Yep I agree with this. If you want to keep it then buy it out. This is a rare situation.

If you want to sell it and maximize your financial position, you are most certainly better off selling it on your own.

If you just don't care about the money and want to get rid of it with no headache, then give it back to the dealer. I don't think you would have asked the question if this was your mindset. So it seems that buying out the lease is the only real option.

Car looks absolutely mint. I can barely see carbon on the tail pipes. Someone will snatch this baby up in a heart beat.

Or, enjoy it!

I tried the approach of going into the dealer and discussing a lease buyout, but also looking at a new F30 lease and talking to them about "weighing all my options". It didn't really work. I figured maybe they would be a little flexible on the buyout or at least throw in a CPO or discounted warranty. No bites at all. Maybe that tells me what you all been saying......the buyout is a decent price. On the other hand, nobody has offered me more than the buyout, so an equity rollover doesn't seem possible either. I do love the car and it appears I may just buy it and finance it through a local credit union. I was just hoping for a steal of a deal or for the dealer to at least throw in something.......anything........even a free car wash I do appreciate everyone's feedback...

So what you are saying is the Stealership acted exactly like WHO they really are... selfabsorbed and lacking any sense of customer service. This is exactly the experience I received from BMW and that is why it will be a cold day in Hell before I choose another BMW... except maybe some future M3. They do make great cars :-)

Keep it. If anything you can sell it. I'm sure you'll have no problems finding a buy for that.
