PROcede V2 limp mode
Hi
Drove from Zurich to Innsbruck today ( 200 miles ) and had the opportunity to test the V2 quite good. Tested nearly everything: Cruising @ different speeds, smooth and hard accelerations, high speed driving. Great tune, the car is very fast. However, I got a limp mode exactly in the moment the car's speed limiter kicked in ( half dark/light engine icon ). Restarted the engine to solve the issue. Conditions: Procede V2 as shipped. No changes to any predefined settings. Permanent connected to power ( no switched power fuse in my ECU box, I will dig into this tomorrow ). Outside temp has been 65 degrees, engine oil temp 240 degrees. Good weather conditions. The car is stock except PROcede V2. Steptronic. I use Shell V-Power 100 ( 94-95 octane AKI ). The engine performed great, I reved up to 7000 rpm multiple times in different ways. I really think that the issue is caused by the speed limiter. The Code Reader did not show an error, so it's an extended BMW OBDII code. I will go to my dealership early next week to get the error report. It's the only error stored, because I have let clear my car's ECU errors ( although I had none ) after the V2 install. I wanted to share this with Shiv and the forum. My guess: No biggie - Eugen |

how is that relevant.....his car is fine, actually more than fine...its fast
Hell if my car goes into limp mode when I hit 155mph I'll take it as a sign to slow my ass down.

It's nice to see an objective and honest post Eugen.
I'm sure the V2s are great, but it looks like the limp mode issues are still happening. I'm happy to say that I've never experinced the limp mode yet. Quote:

This issue should be fixed. I don't get why some feedback is that negative. Don't think binary. The car performed great, I tested briefly and had an issue when running into the speed limiter.
That's why we early adopters have to be serious and quick, to detect last bugs. I have an EU post march 2007 production e93. Never tested with the PROcede V2. - Eugen |

Please don't read too far into what I'm saying.
All I'm saying is that it's nice to see that you spoke about what exactly happened instead of trying to hide the cons and only talking about the pros. It seems like people tend to do that a lot around here. Quote:

Terry should be posting this with glee in the other forums in 3...2....1...
Eugen, you shouldn't be surprised w/ the negative feedback those folks have been waiting like vultures for something (among all the positive feedback) to make the V2 (and Shiv by proxy) look bad. No surprise really. |

What we get with the PROcede V2 is by far the most sophisticated engine performance tune available for the 335i. Shiv stated that boost related issues will not happen. The PROcede is a computer using firmware, software and maps. Now fine adjustments will be done, the product is in an early stage. We, including myself, wanted it now. We got it now. It's excellent. - Eugen |
