I have the AFE intake and truely love it but i wanted to know if the gruppe M or the Simota had a better noise. Gruppe M has the most gains am i right?

well it may be hard to compare since most people can't really compare them since they only have had one intake.
I've heard the simota and i think it has a good sound to it. Not overly loud IMO. But then again I can't compare it to anything else since i haven't heard any others. In terms of HP the GM i think has the most, but we're talk very little power tho. Like 1 or 2 hp? As for design, the authentic GM is the best by far. |

I got Simota and Gruppe M rep intake myself...got the gruppe m rep like a month ago and Simota for 3 days.
Price: Gruppe m rep: about 350 from Ebay seller ( offered 200+90 shipping + 50 for the K&N filter) Simota: 340 from M-Force_Design (best price I can find so far, I am talking about CF version.) Quality and fitment: Simota>Gruppe M rep We all know the gruppe m rep's fitment is not that good. thats why some people rather to use the stock air scoop with the gruppe m rep intake. However, the quality for the Simota is excellent. CF weave pattern looks better too. Sound in the car: Gruppe M rep > Simota Gruppe m rep gives louder sound inside of the car. Sound from the simota is deeper. sound outside of the car: Simota >= Gruppe M rep However, the sound from the outside is almost the same for me, maybe simota appears a little bit louder. Performance: Simota = Gruppe m rep Honestly, the gain for 2 or 3 hp is really not noticeable. Fuel economic: Simota = Gruppe m rep My car's mpg improve from 18 to 23...thats about 5 mpg gain. I am experiencing about the same gain or even better with Simota now... my mpg now is 28.5!! (with a trip to Sacramento last weekend.) Last edited by iczz; 10-24-2007 at 12:23 AM.. |

iirc from past posts that got their cars dyno'd...
ksfrogman gained a few hp from the authentic gruppe m intake. somebody dyno'd the simota and yielded 1 hp gain. fujita (and similar designs) resulted in hp lost. you should be able to find them by doing a search.

Fitment on E90 328i
Everywhere I see the Simota for sale, I see the E90 325i and 330i listed. Can someone confirm that I can buy the 330i intake and put it in my 328i? I've heard that the stock airboxes are a bit different. Is it easily reversible also for those trips to the dealerships? Don't mean to hijack this thread but I'm trying to avoid the "do a search" police. Thanks...
