Thoughts on m5 wheels

Hi All-

Wanted to hear out your opinions. My dealer has a car coming in that is pretty much how I would want to speck the car out other than the fact that it lacks the 20 inch upgraded wheels. Would this be a deal breaker for you? I haven't really seen the stock 19s anywhere so I'm very unfamiliar with them. Please anyone who has seen them or has them chime in and let me know is they looks better or worse than in the pictures. Also, do they look to small for the car in person? Please let me know your experiences and opinions, thanks!

I have seen them in person and they are not bad but the 20s fill the wheel well that much better.

Wouldn't be a deal breaker, if you get a good deal.

I personally would want the 20's, but if you get a good deal with the 19's, you can always buy a set of HRE, BBS, etc.

You can also decide if you want 20/21's.

Nah, they don;t really look too small but rather unattractive. Takes away from the car quite a bit. This of course is very subjective. You may like them personally. The pictures you see of them are accurate.

Lower the car and install spacers, and after that figure out whether you like the look or not.

This is good insight. The car I'm looking at is BSM so I believe that the wheels should go best with a darker color. Any other thoughts?

I selected the 19s as I liked the look and for ride and handling purposes on UK roads.

I too have the 19" wheels. Few reasons why. The 20" wheels are M6 wheels and I did not want that. The 19" wheels look like an evolution of past M5's.

Road noise I wanted as little as possible and the daft cost in the uk for 20" wheels. I may change to 20s but they won't be the BM option.

Even the new competition pack wheels are identical to the Merc SLR I think it is?

I get running 19's in UK or if you are in the snow belt.

Dude, you're in Vegas...unless you specifically want to retain that look of past M5's, I would def go to 20/21's on those long, flat desert roads.

After all, you are in SIN city

Depends on how good a deal you can get. If you can save some coin, I would do it, buy myself some HREs P1s (or any of the other great aftermarket wheels out there) and sell the 19s to someone (like me) on the east coast that needs a set of winter wheels.

Depends on the deal. 343M wheels not expensive in forum classifieds.

Agree shouldn't be a deal breaker, as you could potentially get aftermarket and sell the 19s to someone like me in the Northeast who needs winter rubber. There are limited options for winter wheels and the 19s would work well

Good idea (choosing what YOU like and not listening to me and the rest of the goons on here :-) Seriously, smart move. You can always upgrade them later if you wish.

Definitely not a deal breaker, in my opinion. Can always upgrade to something else later. I'm just picking up my F10 M5 in 2 days, and it has the 19"s on it. I somehow find them a bit small for the M5; the multi-spoke design too sober. I've already ordered my 20" 343M wheels, much more aggressive in line with the M5s character. But again, its a personal choice.

My car came with the 19"s. I actually love the look of the wheel (wish they made the style in a 20") and they look great on a dark color car. I ordered the car that way as I knew I would upgrade at some point. I am no awaiting a set of P44SC, but you will not be disappointed in the 19" for the short term. You can always find the 20" stock wheels as well - plenty of people looking to get rid of theirs. Should not be a deal breaker. Just my .02.

I ordered mine with the 19s. I figured I would/could use these for snow tires or keep them for tracking (probably better size for this application). Leaves choice of second set of wheels wide open.

So, depends on where you live, and what you want to do with the car. If limited to one choice, I'd get the 20's b/c I like the style better and nobody has noted a significant ride difference.
