Scanner / Datalogger
I was looking for a way to get a live feed and/or datalog through the ODB II port. I hooked up a DashHawk and it said it could not connect, even after updating the software. The main use would be for boost measurements, but i definitely would like the other measurements as well. Is there anything available?
I don't mind taking my laptop with me if necessary, but would prefer a device sized like a cell phone/gps. I want it to be temporary, not permanently mounted. Thanks in advance! Jim P.S. Yes, i did search, but could not find anything useful. Last edited by tt boy; 10-05-2007 at 02:36 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

i dont think there are many options... i think on vishnu's website there is something called a "c reader", but i dont have a procede and dont know much about it... from what i've read on the forums people use it when they get a code thrown at them and want to see specifically what is the issue.

This was recently asked as well.
I am using an inexpensive PC based software from http://www.obd-2.com However, there are other options but I have not tried them to know how well they work. http://www.autoenginuity.com/products-scantoolppc.html I am waiting on one that will provide all of the parameters and not just the ODBII mandated values. |

Scalbert - how do you like the software? Are you able to get good boost readings? I just called the obd-2 people and they said I should buy the TriCAN Cable and the USB adapter. Is this the setup you are using? I see that you have a 2007 335i and was curious about our cars specifically.
Thanks again for the help. |

I purchased from them about 5 years ago and did get the TriCom interface but only serial. It works fine but only reports OBDII data. I would like to see vehicle specific data though and am waiting on support from other vendors. For a quick and inexpensive option, this works. But to monitor boost with the accepted intercepting methods; it is useless. All of the piggy back systems alter the TMAP signal which limits what you can see in the DME. |
