Procede vs Stock 1/4 mile

Just for those of you wondering whether or not to get the Procede see the differences in the timeslip below. Last week chitown335i (Vince) and myself did some ¼ mile runs at the great lakes dragway in Wisconsin. We were able to consistently get 12.8 on his procede AT 335i sedan with drag radials and 13.6 sec on my Stock, Sport pkg 335i AT coupe.

He was pulling at least 3 car lengths on me by the time we finished. Both had DTC off and DS mode on.

LOL. Yeah, you may not want to; it's hard to give up one of the best bangs for your buck (not that it compares to the raw but posh driving experience of a Porsche TT ), but it's certainly not bad for a $50k car.

btw -- I'm still waiting for Shiv to post the v2.0 s/w & firmware updates online, so I can install. If he does it early by this evening, then I'll be installing tonight.

Cool....

How much do you guys weigh?

While the 60' and 1/4 mile times are impressive, the trap speed is not much different from your stock 335i.

12.8s verses 13.6s sounds more like 8 car lengths to me
107.44 mph = 157.57 ft/sec = 15.75 ft/0.1sec
car = ~15ft length
basically every 10th of a sec = 1 car length

60' Times played a big role in that 12.8... He got a 1.8 60' which is great for a rear wheel drive car! I need to go get some drag radials soon, but its not like i have a raceway around here anymore to run it on... Damn California!!!

I know 107.44 mph seems to be the norm for a Procede equipped car however it seems a little low for a 12.8s.
I'm surprised the trap speeds are not more like 112mph @ 12.8s, is the car shifting right then preventing a higher trap speed?

I was just looking at the R&T road test summary to see what other cars can do a 12.8 1/4 mile, here is what I found...

Chevrolet Corvette Z51 (400hp) = 12.8 @ 112.5mph
Audi RS4 (420hp) = 12.8 @ 109.7mph
Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (532hp)?? = 12.8 @ 115.4mph
Shelby GT500 (500hp) = 12.8 @ 113.2mph
Mercedes S600 (510hp) = 12.8 @ 109.9mph

I was surprised to find that our cars are getting into Ferrari territory....
Imagine getting the jump on a Ferrari and hold him off until the 1/4 mile.

170 lbs in the stock car and 190 lbs in the procede car. It did not look like 8 car lengths to me ...but i see your logic though. Also my launch (stock car) was just from a deadstop no revving to 1500 rpms stuff...just turned dsc off ,DS mode and punch and go.

Think Vince was in DS all the time...so yes you could be right.

trap speed is what you need to look at to take the driver and launch out of the equation. 2 1/2 mph increase isn't that great - certainly good, but not what I'd expect from "50-70hp" gains.

Makes you wonder how much quicker/faster version 2 will be with that extra power above 6500rpms.

Drag radials with lowish air pressure and the fast 60' are probably lopping 2 mph off what the car would run otherwise, but with an obviously worse ET.

Launch as little impact on trapspeed....this is a truer indicator for HP than 1/4 mile times.

The stock 335i is strong if 107-108 is the norm for a Proceed car.

I think you guys also have to look at where the car is at a given time, when your looking at the trap speed. at 13.6 seconds my car would be traveling much faster and the gap would be much larger. Correct me if im wrong.
