Recall 07E-A01

Anybody have this recall done, and see a decrease in performance from a stock N54? I think I saw a reference elsewhere about owners feeling the recall reduced their boost....and now I have received the recall notice.

Ditto, what does it entail?

I wonder if BMW would go as far as to issue a "recall" to check for certain mods... hm.

The purpose of the recall is so that all OBD2 scanners and BMW diagnostic computers can detect potential malfunctions of various emission relevant components. Examples are like bad o2 sensors, transmission control units, cam sensors, etc.

You can't tell the dealer to skip this procedure because it's mandated by EPA and CARB.

When you pick up the BMW after the recall is done you might feel that it is slow. This is because when the adaptations are reset and starts off in an "economy" mode where A/F ratios are a bit leaner and vanos, ignition, and maybe fuel injection timing are retarded.

Only thing I can recommend is to drive your car hard after the recall so that it quickly adapts.

I recently reprogramed my car with procede left in and I did notice a performance difference for aprox 3 days of driving ( about 100 miles ) then it seemed like my full power came back.

Sounds just like the emissions recall they did with the E46 M3's.

My M3 was definitely slow right after I got it back. I hammered on it for like a week. I still swear it hasn't felt the same since. Probably all in my head though.
