Everyone's insurance just got a little bit more dear
So one of our vans had a little bump a couple of weeks ago and as a consequence every insurance quotation in the land just got a touch more expensive. Mainly because all insurance companies are spineless money grabbing bastards who have no interest in minimising claim costs as it's all a huge gravy train for them.
We had some guys travelling from Sheffield to Southampton to do some work and they made a stop at the services on the way down. The van is a long wheelbase, high roof Citroen Relay in white with orange lettering. Quite noticeable. Unfortunately while it was maneuvering in the car park a crappy old Renault Laguna reversed out of a space and there was a very low speed impact. No more than 5mph. Firstly, as both vehicles were reversing this is classed as 50/50 fault. Even though our vehicle was moving to a space and had what I'd consider to be right of way we're apparently equally liable. And even though the other driver didn't look before reversing and completely ignored the usually quite noticeable audible warning tones. Now that I could just grind my teeth about and grudgingly accept. But secondly, can you guess? Yes! The driver of the Laguna is claiming whiplash injuries and my insurers are not contesting it! Mainly because the doctor hired by Laguna man's solicitors who are in turn hired by Laguna man's insurance company believed his story and banked the cheque. Yay for the system! Yay for me paying for all that! Laguna man can expect a minimum of £1k for his terrible injuries sustained when our van's rear off side bumper hit his rear near side wing at sub-5mph speeds. Don't forget guys, where there's blame there's a claim! And please don't think that our politicians are doing anything about this because they're not. They say they'd like to but saying is not doing. However, unfortunately to many people saying is the same as doing and everyone slaps everyone else on the back. |

I HATE insurance companies. All snakes - the lot of them. No interest in common sense, just skimming on every transaction, even between their own departments! The fact you are insured is secondary and just seems bothersome to them.
Claiming whiplash for a car park bump is taking the piss. Some people have no shame. D.

I'd make whiplash claims ineligible for compensation. Unless there was an objective test for your "injuries" you couldn't claim. The odd genuine case would make it back anyway over a lifetime of lower insurance premiums and all the ambulance chasers would have to get useful jobs.

Well whiplash in a case like this would normally command around £2k. As it's a 50/50 fault claim they halve it. So a grand for stopping for a coffee on the motorway. Nice work if you can get it. And my insurers are doing nothing.

I saw on Top Gear that the UK instituted that you cannot get whiplash from accidents under a certain speed? Top Gear is probably the worst place to go for facts, but thought I would mention.

The only people worse than insurance companies are the cock sucking mother fuckers that claim whiplash at the drop of a hat.
I hope the mother fucker chokes and dies on the next cock he sucks.

I hate insurance companies.
They cannot loose. Nothing can happen that would ever result in them loosing money. Too many claims? Just up everyone's premium to cover it. I too was under the impression whiplash claims could not be made for 5 mph collisions? I thought in a 50/50 each insurance company covers there own customer? So nobody clamming off the other? |
