BMW Performance Exhaust with Pics for my N53 motor
Finally my BMW Performance Exhaust, rear silencer, has been delivered today! I ordered it from BMW Cooper parts online for £697 inc VAT.
Part number is 18 10 2208788 and its for my BMW 330i M Sport 272PS N53 auto. Now, I have some concerns I would like to share and clarify with you guys. Firstly, as soon as I opened the package I immediately thought what shoddy manufacturing quality! It seems to have been welded by high school Design Tech students. I didn't expect this sort of quality from BMW, especially after receiving my BMW Performance Intake system, which was top quality. Secondly, I assumed the BMW PE came with down pipes, and an X OR Y pipe? whatever that is. All I seem to have is the muffler and exhaust tips, did they miss out on a part? Please look at the pics below. thanks |

Thats how my welding looked too, and I know for the N52 e92 on mine I received a mid pipe as well. Mine obviously showed up in 2 boxes, but they were on 2 separate ups trucks. Did you receive 2 tracking numbers?

Geez that's hideous... Granted no one will see it when installed.
The welds on my AA exhaust are Superb. It should have a mid pipe as well.

No it should not. This PE is for the DI N53 engine (not available in the US) which has an additional sensor post centre muffler, so the PE consists of the back box only.
(OP - see my reply to your post on Bimmerfest).

My PE looked a bit better than that, the welds weren't pretty but they were much cleaner.
The North American PE comes with the Y pipe that deletes the resonator, but I think the Euro one is just the muffler.

No mate it doesn't look used or damaged its brand new you can tell by the tips and the bottom side of the muffler. Thats just how it comes. Thats the trade off, euro spec cars get the euro intake box and us spec cars get center Y pipe for the exhaust. I would just meet a cpl blokes tonight at the pub smoke a couple cigarettes and have some laughs over a few pints of Guinness. Bmw is wank.
