M3
Okay, so I'm dreaming a bit (she would ferking murder me), but running my own business etc, I can dream, can't I?
One's appeared at the garage up the road, Dark Silver, black wheels, 59,000mls '08 manual for 20,995 (screen price). Couple of bits wrong, but nothing major serious. Dunno how much I'd get for mine, but the difference can't be huge (I hope not, anyway) It's started to make me think... So, good people of e90, the low down, please. MPG, Rear Tyres, I don't even know insurance group?

Yeah mate 12! But you will enjoy it!
On a run I reckon high 20's achievable. Last edited by dxb335d; 07-30-2013 at 03:34 PM.. |

If you thrash it a lot, use the 8,300rpm range a lot, twelve is what you'll get.
We're not all Carlos however so, hope for 20 ! Oh, and tyres last 5,000 miles apparently... |

Tyres have lasted far longer on my M3 than they have on my previous 335.

You can have a great deal of fun on public roads and see 18 MPG
Road tax is about £435 Not many insurance companies will touch you without a tracker of some sort. Although a couple will. Tyres is more tricky as it depends on how you drive. Servicing can be a killer, especially if it's due spark plugs and all the filters and tranny oil. Epic car. But don't buy on a budget. Also try and buy a late 2008 onwards as it will have later idrive, which is much better. |

I would say everything is around 2x to 2.5x the cost of your 320d.
Driven hard is low teens - driven mixed about 18mpg - driven easy on a run maybe you'll see 23mpg Tyres are £250 Insurance £500 - £700 Servicing up to £500 for the bigger ones Tax £490 Tyres last around 8-10k, Pirelli maybe towards top end as compound is a bit harder. Warranty is around 1k - I would recommend this. |

Yeah, I would say £500 is optimistic even for an inspection 1 at a decent indie. If you go to BMW they will face rape you.

I was talking to a salesman at my local dealer who watched an M3 owner part with £1000 for a service which included spark plugs.Which I think were £40 each.

I paid 700 something (discounted) from a main dealer for an inspII. Included valve clearances. I wouldn't skimp on ///M maintenance.

Sensible? What's that?
All my cars are maintained to the highest standard, always over-serviced, always wear premium rubber.... But yes I do go over 70mph... Ian, having known you a long while now I would say I am as sensible as you!! |

Shocking money to run one of these things.
I think I'll stick with my slower but cheaper to run 330d. Not quite as much fun, but about 2 grand a year cheaper to run. Yer better off with a remapped 335d for running costs. |

I can't argue with that Carl, you are one to look after their P&J.
