15 Min metal vaccum canister DIY
Decided to do a small right up on this easy to do mod. I am sure many of you have done this...this is for those who havent. Such a easy thing to do and gives you piece of mind. The intake nipple can easily crack and leak causing your wastegates to not function correctly. Dealer broke mine 2X.

No flame suit, honest question. It is to replace the plastic nipples with steel ones on the vacuum (when looking on left they are the front right side of motor).

BMW has fucked me so much that I take it with no lube now. My service adviser "Ken" calls me his little butt slut and he makes me feel dirty and vulnerable.

It was right at the base of the nipple. Push on nipple and you WILL see them.

Just bumping this awesome little DIY. I found a nipple on a cannister was coming off. I have hot glued as an interim fix hopefully that will work for now and will do the fix above next week. Thanks for the write up Rob. Is there anything on your ride that you havent modded?

Thanks for the write up Rob! I'm modding mine this weekend as one of my can barbs bit the dust and who knows how the other three are actually doing... Figured this mod is way better than speanding $40 a pop to just buy something that is going to break again.
I've changed out both solenoids, replaced all vac lines and was hoping my rattle would settle down or go away. Could my lack of one canister(bypassed straight to solenoid) cause boost issues(lag or off target) & rattle? Side question & sorry to thread jack, but If I adjust the rear wastegate rod, I loosen the nut & turn the rod toward the fender to tighten for rattle correct? I may need some RB Turbo upgrades soon... wife is going to kill me! |

What side effects/draw backs does deleting the whole vaccum cannister have?
I was considering deleting( completely removing them) , and trying them for a week before I do the mod in the weekend. Would really appreciate quick answers So sick of driving around with two broken cannisters for the past few days..

pretty sure you mean 1/8 NPT, 11/32 sounds like the size for a 1/8 NPT tap.
