Cold Air Intakes

Whats is the difference between Short Ram Intake, Cold Air Intake and the Carbon Fiber Intake? and which is better?
like the simota, gruppe m, afe, britalman. what kind of intake are they?

btw i have a 325i with the ikon and resonator delete. trying to get a good intake, any recommendations?

it was a joke. they went easy on you. Most people get flamed for that, hence the roasting line.

I remember reading one of the ikon exhaust threads and someone mentioning the car being too loud with the ikon + intake. I think it was the Gruppe M rep intake.

There's a sound clip of the Simota on SES_D's car in the sponsorship section. Just look for the Simota thread. It sounds amazingly awesome. Gruppe M seems to be the #1 choice but too damn expensive so people are opting for the rep. I think there was a slight fitment problem with the rep though. Nothing major but it wasn't perfect.

well, Britalman intake installed, followed step by step instructions..... and car feels so much slower.... i hit the gas and the car accelerates in stages.... and theres a huge dead spot when you hit second, car accelerates slow, as if it is struggling, then feels like its back to normal and you feel a surge of power....

im to what it could be.....

gruppe m rep all the way.. sound is amazing and power is there to. i raced my friends volvo s60 r automatic and i left him like 2 cars back and thats a 300 hp turbo car! same result after 15 runs.. im so happy with it

Its a rep but the filter connects pretty much straight to car so the real one would not get any more hp.

Short ram intake refers to the design, our Simota CF Intake is a short ram intake in that it takes air directly from the engine bay rather than going down into the bumper. Advantages are easier install, nice looking CF intake, and same performance benefit.

Cold Air Intake refers to aftermarket high performance intakes in general, they increase the amount of dense cold air taken in by the engine.

Carbon fiber intakes offer some weight savings but the real advantage are the looks. Our Simota intake has a CF based heat shield that is just as effective as the FRP version but gives the engine bay a more unique look.

The Simota is a short ram carbon fiber cold air intake to combine all together
