Question Can Canadian orders be tracked using owners circle?

Hi,

I just tried to track my order following the instructions on this website. I have a production number and VIN and am scheduled for week 49. However, the system said it did not recognise either? Is this because my car is destined for Canada? Does it fall into a different "bin"? If yes, how do you Canucks track cars?

Tx in advance!

I don't think owner circle works for Canada. Canadians don't even get to know the production number and the manufacturing week. Well... at least for me.

By "This website" not sure what you mean. You mention your car is destined for Canada. If you were on BMW NA´s web site, of course a Canadian car wouldn´t be there. You need to go to the site of your importer - if they even offer this type of tracking. For example: if my car is destined for the U.S. I cannot go to BMW of Japan´s web site to track it either.

As far as I know, tracking a car in Canada is only possible through the dealership.

You can't track the production status yourself (your dealer can), however once it is built you can track it while it is being shipped across the Atlantic.

Get the VIN number from your salesman, and then go to: http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do

select to track "auto cargo", then use your VIN# (no spaces) as the tracking#. It gives you full tracking of the ocean voyage, from when it arrives in the yard in Germany, through until it is offloaded in Halifax. The trip took about a week for me.

I see you are in Vancouver, for me, it took 3 weeks from when it arrived in Halifax until it got to the dealer in Vancouver (who turned it around for me in less than a day).

Once it hits Halifax it goes via rail to Annacis Island, and there is supposedly no way to track it (even by the dealer) during that time, until it is scanned it at the auto-receiving centre on Annacis. Once it hits Annacis, expect 1-2 days for it to get to dealer, then 1 more day for dealer prep.

Good luck, the waiting is killer~

Once your vehicle is loaded on a rail car in Halifax, you can track it on CN's web site, again using the VIN number. The site will tell you the exact location in Canada of the rail car. Only problem is that you need to sign up for the CN site, but if your employer is a customer of CN this should be no problem. Alternatively your car dealer can sign up for the site. My 325xi on order was listed as being loaded and on the way to Toronto long before the 2Wglobal site said it had arrived in Halifax.

I previously lived in Vancouver, and when I ordered my E46 7 years ago the sales rep gave me the rail car number, and a CN phone number I could call to give me the location of the rail car as it crossed Canada. I had fun doing that, and I was surprised how fast the trip was.

Yeah, call your rep. He'll tease you that the train had an accident, that kids threw rocks at the train and scratched YOUR car only etc....

Or don't call and let yourself get surprised!

OR go to the dealership every day like I did and look at all the new cars like a stalker and compare VINS until yours shows up (man I'm loopy!).

Thanks guys!

I just discovered that my car landed in Halifax December 20. I'm currently attempting to get an account with CN to track it as it moves across country.

Happy New Year!
