dealer said CEL and limp mode engaged because of Low Boost pressure?

Picked up my car today with the new fuel pump.... 15 miles from the dealership...on the highway... CEL comes on and cars is in limp mode sais..."Engine Malfunction.....reduced engine power".. or something.... drive back to dealership NOT HAPPY...tell them to scan my car asap... SA does it and sais the mechanic said there was ONE instance of "low boost pressure" noted from the key reader...as well as when they plugged it in.... he said they raised the car to check if all was ok.... and he said everything checked out.... when I asked why that happened... he said the mechanic sais "well the car sat on our lot for a week not driven...maybe thats why"

Why would you even say that...total BS...my car sat for more than a month of a boat from germany and was fine....

But does anyone know what would cause one LOW BOOST PRESSURE reasing and throw a CEL like that?

Was probably something more specific than "low boost pressure" but they couldn't explain it.

I believe I did read that limp mode is engage when the boost level is indeed too low, but I read this in one of the limp mode with Procede thread.

I've read that cars with bad pumps that waited at dealerships for over a month did required a couple of new gas fill ups to work like it used to be.

But in your case, a week is a pretty short period of time. I've taken vacations for 7-14 days before and come back to start my car (not this BMW), and it drove fine.

If the CEL went away, I'd just drive the car at is, and if it comes back again, I'd head right back to the dealership. Just look out for the symptoms of fuel pump to see if it's acting up again or not. Best of luck.

when i picked up my car from the dealer (delivery day) it went into limp mode at a stop light a mile from my dealer. i stopped and restarted the car, intending to turn around and go back. the light cleared after restarting and never came back, its been fine now for 6K miles.

i suspect its something that "happens" occasionally. the car had less than four miles on it, and had been sitting on a ship for three weeks, so it never had been really driven.

i've left my car parked for over a week with no ill effects, i would keep an eye on it but i would chalk it up to a freak occurance.
