Hit a raccoon

I hit a raccoon on my way home from work in my leased vehicle. Some moderate bumper damage not sure of any under bumper damage. Debating whether to get an estimate first then call insurance company or should I ca them right away?

Can I get it repaired anywhere or should I take it to a BMW authorized place? I want to take it to a local body shop. Thoughts?

always get a quote before you call the insurance company imo
unless the damage is very obvious

getting an estimate first is always the best thing, and as far as body work i would feel much better taking it to a licensed placed even though they may cost more, i know if they do anything wrong legal action can be taken.

I too have some moderate bumper (rear) damage on my F30. I would get an estimate first, then contact insurance if its considerably more than your deductible.

BMW has a network of "certified collision repair centers" but I would read a couple of independent reviews on the shop too.

BBQ Raccoon Sandwiches

~ 1 cleaned raccoon, remove as much fat as possible
~ 2 onions, quartered
~ 1/4 cup sage
~ our favorite bbq sauce

Place coon in a large pan. Cover with water.

Add the onions and the sage.

Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until tender and meat starts to fall off the bones.

Remove from pan and let cool.

Remove the meat from the bones and add to a crock pot.

Cover with bbq sauce and heat on high or low until hot.

Serve on buns and enjoy.

Haha, you guys are funny! Im so pissed, that family of raccoons cost me $800. I may have hit more than one. it was like it was in slow motion and I couldn't stop.

My photo is too big to upload, sorry. It doesn't look terrible, but the labor and parts are going to cost me.

Same thing happened to me (or should I say "happened to a raccoon") a couple months ago - $2500 in damage -- front bumper, radiator support, etc....make sure to get everything underneath checked out...there's a lot of plastic parts underneath the bumper that had to be replaced that the insurance adjuster didn't/couldn't see

Thanks. Yeah the BMW authorized body shop said that if there is more damage to exceed my deductible then they will work with insurance co. This is like throwing money away..ugggh!
