Adaptive headlights
Is it normal for adaptive xenons to self level at start up to go up and down then side to side or just up and down? Trying to figure out which headlight is giving me the adaptive headlight error...

Hmmm I know mine go up and down, but not sure about side to side, I think they pan a little but not full side to side. But I assume they're fine otherwise you'll get a warning.

Lots of info to share here:
1) bi xenons at start up should do a self leveling down/up test 2) bi xenons have the ability to tilt left/right ONLY when the light switch is in automatic mode. 2a) when the vehicle is stationary or moving AND light switch is in automatic mode, then only the passenger side bi xenon light will move right/center. 2b) when the vehicle is moving greater than 25 mph AND light switch is in automatic mode, then only will the drivers side tilt left/center. Learned this in the bentley manual and on several postings here. To figure out what your car is complaining about, use the BC Stalk to go to the check control. Cycle to the error u want details about, then press and hold the BC Stalk button until you see a CC ID number appear below the error icon. Google search "e9x cc id xxx" (u fill in the x's) |

Try switching your headlight switch to full left (Automatic mode). While parked, crank your steering wheel full right. See how you passenger side light tilts to the right along with the steering wheel movement (step 2a in my instructions).
