335 Wagon?
Curious why BMW decided to only make the wagons in 328 form and with 4wd.
I would very strongly consider a 335i wagon.

I do not think there was a E91 335 wagon either.
If enough people would have bought it before, it would surely be back again. It can only be blamed on the buying tastes of this country, no one else. I love the idea of a fast wagon. I have often found myself thinking of buying a lightly used CTS-V wagon next year with a 6spd manual.

We even get F31 335i wagons in the UK, both Luxury and M-sport models. Will be very rare, if the E91 wagon is anything to go by. The wagons here are nearly all 320d & 330d models.

FYI - I live in Boston, got 2013 335i RWD M-Sport, EBII
I did my Euro delivery last month and I drove 2,200 Km, from Munich to Italy "Maranelo - Ferrari Factory", then Zurich. 95% of the 535 were wagon, I saw about 10 328i & 320d "F30", Zero 335! No EBII AT ALL! More than half of their cars are diesel. On my factory tour at BMW, the girl told us that the M3 and M5 were only sold to US and the engine N55 was never presented in our tour. In resume... Only "USA" buy big engines and expend money on gas like no one else in the planet. Well, no wonder, cost me $110 euros to fill my tank with gas.

They don't because it would cost them too much money to federalize the car in the USA versus what they would sell. Same thing as offering only awd just one platform to federalize with gasoline and one with diesel.

I think 90%+ of all of the BMWs I saw during my ED were E61 and F11 wagons. All manner of motors though. The best in my opinion were a handful of 550 M-Sports. I'd buy it if they'd bring it. |

Customers who want a wagon here buy the X3, simple as that. They build X3's in the USA, so there is a lot less overhead and no import taxes, so why cut into your wagon production allocation if it's going to be a zero-sum game with your own product that can't be sold in other markets?
The only reason to go wagon over SUV is driving dynamics, but even then with ridiculously low speed limits (in some states) and dumb American's who want "safety" and "AWD" are not going to stray from SUV's, even with gas prices hiking. |
