Software and aircon
Like much of the USA today, it's been hot here.
We were on our way to Cape Cod and I'd been switching between Eco Pro, Comfort and Sport modes. On the highway, I like Sport mode with 2TB in manual mode so I can run the car in eighth gear. Suddenly, the aircon quit. It went from ice cold with high output volume to outside temperature air with nearly zero volume in about two minutes. There were no indications -- nothing out of the ordinary. At first, I suspected it might be a refrigerant leak that would have caused the compressor to freeze up. Because it got hot inside the car very quickly, we dorked around with the controls in an attempt to reset it. What finally worked was simply turning off the A/C and turning it back on. I'm thinking that this was a bug in the car's software, probably set off by my repeated switching the driving modes. If it was, it's the price of having a car so digital it's essentially a bunch of computers that are prevented from being dragged on the on road by wheels.

But I do think it was switching among modes that caused the software glitch.
