Love my new 328i Sportline and this is my Story
First off, I'm a new BMW 328i owner.... and I love this car.
I have pretty much always owned Hondas and Acura's. I've owned 3 Honda Accords (1994 Accord LX for 5 years, 2000 Accord EX for 5 years, 2006 EXLV6 for 1 year) then I purchased a 2006 Acura TL w/ Nav and owned it for 6 years... So I recently wanted a new car again and decided to trade my beloved TL for a 2013 Honda Accord EXLV6...I liked the exterior styling and the interior was really nice along with the tech advances from the TL...but... what do you really know about a car after 2 10 minute test drives...evidently in my case buyers regret. The seats in that car absolutely for some strange reason HURT my back.. I had the car for about a weak and my back was causing me so much discomfort I hated driving the car.. it was the only variable that had changed.. I’m a fit athletic 42 year old male average size 5'9" 192, workout several times a week.. so I let my wife start driving the car and I drove her 2013 Jeep JKU...after several days my back pain went away...of course the wife loved the car ( she likes new things)... SO now I’m pissed cause I loved my TL and I just traded for a car that I hate -don't get me wrong the 2013 Accord V6 had great power for a V6 and I would get 32 to 35 MPG on longer trips ..would get 540miles on 18gallons.. So , I even would drive the car for a few days in a row and the back pain started back... After much thought I was on the search for another car.. I had looked at the 2012 Sportline when they first came out but just couldn't justify spending the money...so I thought about revisiting the idea.. Wife and I spent a whole day in Georgia driving various 2011 335 and 2012 328... I had went down to the dealership with the intention on buying the 335 but only if it had NAV ( for me I did not like the 2011 unless it had NAV - the interior just looked too boring)... So after driving a base 2013 328i, a 2011 335 and a 2012 328i Sportline... I decided on the 2012 328i Sportline. Ended up not buying one that day in Georgia because the Sportline I drove had cupped tires on the front... So I came back to Charlotte and surfed the internet some more till the next weekend...Good thing I did because I found the same car at BMW Asheville for $3800 less... So here I am... Few things I don't like that will be changed shortly can be changed with some coding changes.. I strongly dislike the ASS and don't care for the nag screens...also wished the volume for the radio was on the left side of the steering wheel like it is on all the Japanese cars and also on the last gen 328's... If I had engineered the car , the volume would have stayed on the left or put a volume dial near the I-Drive controller..makes since to me Oh yeah BTW - no more back issues..back pain went away with the car- crazy I know - would never have guessed.... the passenger seat of the 13 Accord is also very flat and cannot be adjusted..I really think they will change this in futures generations..its already been noted as others have complained But all in all those are minor gripes...oh it does make me a little sad that my car did not come with the Lighting package - no angel eyes But I have since owning the car for 2 weeks added HID low beams, changed out the stock Fogs with some 7300k fogs ( cheap $15 upgrade - there OK) and changed out the driving lights with the iJDMToy LED's -- I like these by the way.. If your on the fence on the low beam HID's go for it..its a nice upgrade -- I’m going to do a DIY thread in the lighting forum over the next week with pics...could not find one anywhere on the net. Long post huh…Ive already learned a lot from my weeks of reading…more to come Here she is with 35% legal tint, polished with Black Fire Polish/wax and sealed with Black Fire CS

nice, and now let the modding begin
My back is very sensitive like yours, My Lexus RX - No back problems Mini r50 - Back pain f30 - no back pain Although people really hate the boat like ride on the f30 conpared to the e90, but for me its a blessing in disguise enjoy the car, and keep us updated with the modding

Congrats on the new car! I love the seats as well. I saw a BMW doc on cnbc and they showed how they test their seats. They put sensors on the tester and make sure that no one point on his body feels too much pressure. Really cool stuff.

I had read on a few websites and a few different forums that the sport seats were Really comfortable.. I actually thought the base seats were comfortable when test driving the various models but ultimately did decide on the sportline because of the seats and trim level.
I thought the CA had told me that for 2014 you could actually order the sport seats as a stand alone option..is this true? As far as comfortable seating in a car , I had never had any issues until the 13 Accord.. the problem arose in the lower lumbar section of the seat...no matter how I adjusted the lumbar support (in/out) it applied incorrect pressure to my back, it was if the lumbar support was extremely high and with the lumbar support all the way in (back) , there was pressure being applied to my lower thoracic/upper lumbar area... I drive a lot daily and I would be constantly changing the seating position and saving in position 1 and a different setting in position 2 , then next day I would save a new setting. Hell I tried to like the car.. Funny thing I had come across a couple other post on the Honda forums stating exactly what I just explained... So lesson learned, take many test drives and take long test drives and make sure the seating position is going to work before you buy. Yeah more sexha pics to come

Nice car. With your back, I'm sure you appreciate the sport seats over the standard base seats.

Congrats! I also traded my 2006 TL in for a 13' 328xi and haven't looked back since. Way better balance and overall driving sense. The car fits me like a glove. Good move!

what I am hating so far is forgetting to turn off ASS then hit the OK for the nag screen then wait on the PDC to turn off when backing up.... Have not got around to coding yet..its on the horizon though

I'm also thinking about a tune. I want a little more out of comfort mode. Sport is great but it's a little sensitive for everyday driving. |
