Dynamic Handling Package and AWD
I'm getting a 428xi with M sport and all season tires and I want to know how the DHP affects the handling and road feel? I've read about this topic elsewhere on the forum, but I am still unclear. I'm coming from a E92 coupe, so I prefer as much road feel and handling feedback as possible as I enter the new F series. I think DHP will be an improvement over non DHP with my build, but I want to be sure I understand how.

All m sport 4 series will come with the adaptive suspension as standard equipment. VSS will be an option. Not sure if this applies to the 328i though

The xdrive 3 (to include the one I drove to work today) has DHP/VSS as an option (a must have option IMO). So, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume the 4 xdrive Msport will have the DHP as an option.

DHP is $1000 option on the 4 series. I placed my order last Friday. I am considering adding DHP to my build if it provides handling and road feel benefits over non DHP with AWD.

The standard xDrive suspension is not what you would call sporty. DHP goes a long way to stiffen things up in the suspension control and steering department. Really glad we got this on our 335i xDrive it does make a significant difference.

But are you saying the M sport gets adaptive suspension on the 4 series, standard? (and likely, VSS too, since that's bundled with adaptive suspension to arrive at the DHP). Because this is definitely NOT the case on the 3 series, just double checking .. |

DHP probably has more significant of an impact on the Xdrive because the Xdrive suspension will be a bit softer than on RWD versions. Most people focus on the adaptive suspension (which is nice, dont get me wrong), but if the 4 series is going to have the "lighter" feel that the F30 has, the VSS is just as important. As soon as you start driving with some pace - and even at 45 MPH it seems - the VSS tightens up the steering nicely, making it heavier and closer to the e9x feel.

On the built sheets it shows the DHP as a stand alone option. it is not part of the Msport package. Msport get the same sport suspension as the sport line. Msport is just an appearance package on top of the standard sport line. Now if it Msport did come with the DHP as standard it make alot more sense to get it

I'd recommend the DHP for sure.

99% sure that DHP, VSS or adapative suspension (any combination of these), are not available standard on the 4 series. |

On the 3 series it's not standard, on the 435i it's standard on all msports. Not sure about the 428i. VSS from what I recall was not standard. I am not confusing the 3 and 4 series here. As dwalls said adaptive suspension is not standard on 3 series msports.
Msport is not just an appearance package, another urban legend we often see here. Even without DHP. Please refer to Jason's posts when the 435i was introduced, it's clearly stated in there that adaptive suspension is standard on all 4 series msports (428i not sure) Update I just checked Jason's post, it looks like either I misread or the post was updated from the day it came out. Msport suspension is standard, not adaptive suspension. My bad
