Steering wheel vibration, fixed?
Hi all-
I was one of the owners that was plagued with the steering wheel vibration known on some of the early build cars (2 F30s actually). Has this issue been rectified? I have read on here about BMW changing the steering setup a few times since introduction and that some owners have had success with replacing their entire steering rack. I really enjoyed the car and am not against the idea of ordering one, though, I DO NOT want to have to deal with BMW buy back again, thus, my inquiry for all owners of recent cars and/or owners that have successfully fixed their vehicles. Please let me know if your recent builds have issues! I am sure hoping they do not and BMW has finally figured out how to make that annoying 40-60 wheel shake/vib go away. Thanks very much!

Hearing from people that have cars that DO NOT have the problem with recent builds would be helpful also. THANKS!

Picked up my car in December of last year (Nov/12 build) and haven't had any steering wheel vibration issues.

My early build 328i had the shimmy and replacing the rack did not fix it.. but my 13' 335i sport has no hint of it after 5k miles. I love it.
I also have not had any rattles, shakes, or any other problems for that matter. Everything seems as tight as the day I bought it and I drive moderately hard at times. |

My F31 335i, Rear Wheel Drive, Variable Sport Steering, Adaptive M Suspension, has production date of April 2013.
The steering is working perfect in all possible Settings (ECO, Comfort, Sport). No complain at all. Go for it! |

Sounds like the issue is dead with recent builds, very good to hear. Any more input?

Awesome, I will definitely be getting DHP if I order so good news to hear nobody is having that annoying steering shake on not only DHP equipped cars, but all of them!

Nov '12 build. 335i M Sport without DHP. Not a hint of vibration with stock run flats, rental winter tires nor Pirelli Sotozeros. Just shy of 9k miles.

For those who had the problem what were your build dates. My F30 has 4/2012 build date and has had a similar problem when braking the wheel itself begins to move to the right and the car seems out of control.

Same build date and same problems.

I have the same build 4/2012 and the same issues. How did you go about having the problem fixed because, after a 30 mile test drive, the service department was unable to duplicate the problem. -Arman

In my case, the shop-foreman found the vibration instantly and they worked on balancing the wheels initially, when that didn't fix it, they ordered a new steering rack for me.
