VIN decoder not finding VIN
I got my VIN a couple days ago from my CA and have been trying to look it up using:
http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ The search returns no results. My car is finishing up production at the end of this week. Does it take some time for the info about my VIN to be uploaded to whatever database that decoder pulls it from?

also the vin decoder is not maintained or sanctioned by bmw. someone with access to the production database uploads it outside of official channels.

I have the same problem. My VIN and 3 after mine are missing, not sure if it was just missed, or because I selected Individual paint, maybe the Database has failed to import the data correctly. Production was early June.

VIN decoder service is provided by BMW through its ASAP. Anyone can access it directly. The sites used by most people here are simply more convenient frontends to the same service.

NB: It also doesn't seem to appear on the Wallenius site either, so maybe I have a ghost car? |

UPDATE: Just went back and tried the other VINS after mine (hadn't tried in a week), and two of them now work with build dates of 24/6/2013. So I think I might be dealing with a communication issue from the dealer here!
It looks like the 4 VINs including mine are all builds containing individual options, and are taking 3 weeks longer to build than the VIN numbers either side. |

If what I was told is correct, it will never appear on the Wallenius site because I was told that all RWD 3 Series (or all RWD cars destined for the US) are now built in South Africa (I think one N in the last 7 indicates this) and so uses a different shipping operation. Mine never appeared on that site.

Well, how one night changes everything, my car now shows up on the VIN decoder with a build date of yesterday. My dealer was fibbing, with a build date of yesterday, there is no way it could have been on the docks for 3 weeks.
Thanks guys for your help. |
