Which modes is eLSD on?

I am not talking about traction off going into comfort mode, stiffening of suspension or stiffening of throttle and steering, i am asking about the eLSD.

eLSD is definitely on with Sports+ mode.

Is eLSD on with all aids off? does the shifter have to be in DS/MS mode to activate eLSD?

Is there any official posts from BMW about which settings puts eLSD on?

Is there a way to test eLSD?

To my knowledge the 3 series doesn't have a eLSD. The ///M cars (M5 & M6) do and the M3 has a regular LSD.
The way to test if you have a LSD is to burn rubber, if you have one tire mark it's a open diff. If you have two tire marks, then you have a LSD. The other way to tell is to lift the rear of the car and spin one wheel, if the other wheel goes in the same direction then you have a LSD, if it spins in the opposite direction it's a open diff.

An eLSD has an electronic module hanging off the side of the diff. case, it works like a open diff. when not activated.

Mechanically, it's an open diff. The only mode that engages the Automatic Differential Brake ADB system is DSC OFF. (That's the hold-button-down-for-several-seconds mode.)

Cool document, should also serve as a good reference for people who ask about DHP and the electronic dampers. Lots of acronyms

Edit - also interesting to understand how VSS is implemented. For some reason I thought it involved motors (not sure how that makes sense) but in fact the gearing ratio on the rack just changes off center.

Great info, never heard of BMW university. Do we have access to other documents on that site?
