F30 LCI when?

Its not been long but anyone has any ideas when the LCI is due.

Also has anyone come across any hints if the LED lights / markers / indicators will make a return on the LCI.

Looking to swap my E90 soon but dont want to jump to F30 if LCI is not far away.

2015/2016.

And there's no hints on what will happen because they won't even start working on those refreshes until likely late next year after the rest of the F3X line up has been released.

MY2015 (July order for Sept/Oct delivery) should be F30 LCI. The LED indicators should return.

They'll have planned the LCI when they made the original F30.

Planning vs actually having the design and tooling done is different.

I'm a product designer. I know what products my company has planned through 2015. That doesn't mean I'll start designing them until ~18 months before the release because that's how long it takes to design, engineer, tool and test the parts.

The auto industry is no different - mid life kickers/LCI usually start around 18 months before the launch.

That's why I said "planned"!

Right, but that's why I said they wont start working/designing it until late this year->mid next year. So trying to guess what will change is all totally up in the air. I have $5 on LED fog lights cause everyone loves LED fog lights.

Interesting! I would bet against that. I'd stay still halogen but perhaps redesigned/moved. I'd bet £3.24 that we get LED rear indicators, new, sharper taillight bars like the F10/F11 LCI and Adaptive LED headlights as optional extra.

MY2016. BMW follows a very standard pattern, the 5th model year of each car.

First came the F01 for MY2009. It got LCI for MY2013.
Then came the F10 for MY2010. It gets LCI for MY2014.
Next came the F25 for MY2011. It gets LCI for MY2015.
Then comes F30 for MY2012. It gets LCI for MY2016.

See the patterns?

i dont think a lot will change? considering the future BMW's are following the f30 design cues (connected headlights, similar hood etc). the only significant thing i can imagine changing is the rear lights becoming more like the 4 series and new bumpers front and back?

There will always be SOME changes; and then the usual rearranging of standard and optional equipment, pricing, etc.
Probably new(er) technology also ....maybe BMW's own version of 'Active Multibeam Headlights'?

Explain the E90 then.

Launched in 2006, model refresh MY2009 (in 2008)

Yeah, thats true for those cars, but the 3er has traditionally been every 4th year.
E46 came in MY 1999. LCI was 2002
E90 came out in MY 2006. LCI was 2009

Isn't that still 4 model years? The E90 had a 6 year life in the US. Doesn't make sense that they would wait until the last 2 years to do the LCI.

The E46 coupe ran from 2000-2003 and was face lifted in 2004 until 2006.

E90 Sedan ran from 2006-2008 and was face lifted in 2009 until 2011. It's LCI was accelerated because the E90 received lots of criticisms.

It's not always the same, but recent history shows that LCI will be 4 MY.

Won't happen for the F30. The MY2012 for the F30 was extremely short, ~4 months. If the LCI was coming for MY2015, that would mean they'd be refreshing the car after only 2.33 years on the market (July 2014).

It was short for the US, but didn't Europe get it several months before we did?
