i just checked the site. they want you to send it in with $279 and they will send you a new v1.

That is an old model and not worth it. You can call Valentine Research at 1 800 331 3030 and ask for a returned V1 and you will get 10% off the retail price of $399. It will be the latest version V1.8 POP2 w/ Euro-mode and 3.863 firmware and that comes with all the accessories and a 1 year warranty.


This is why that ebay auction isn't worth it. $300 Buy It Now plus $15 S/H + $279 upgrade = $594 which is way more than $359 + S/H for the latest version Valentine One.

V1 Description: First V1 series, with X, K, and “wideband” Ka covering 34.2-35.2 GHz. No laser warning.

Comment: this version was excellent in the early 90s, but subsequent introduction of “superwide Ka (33.4-36.0 GHz)” radar means that it won’t find some of today’s most commonly used Ka radar guns.

i have the newest model and just checked for updates... it says that no updates are required, but if i want, they will update it for $79... strange
