Looking to make my E93 335i feel tighter
I just got a 09 E93 335i. It's a gorgeous Az ride and only has 25k miles on it. When I drove it home to San Diego from Phoenix I noticed that in terms of handling, it doesn't handle as "tight" or as "controlled" as did my E92 with sport suspension. When weaving through traffic, I notice that the suspension feels looser than I want. As a result I don't feel as though I have as much control as I did with my E92 with sport suspension.
I have a staggered VMR setup 9.5 in the back and 8.5 in the front and I'm not looking to lower the stance of my vehicle at all. Instead I'm mainly interested in increasing the handling of the vehicle into corners and around turns. I'm definitely not going to be taking my vehicle to a track or anything, but I do enjoy getting out of the city and putting it through the paces on the mountain roads provided that I have the time (doesn't happen often). This vehicle is my daily driver and I'm looking to improve performance on the street without sacrificing ride quality. In a perfect world I would like to be able to get the same amount of stiffness as my E92 had with sport suspension but it would be nice to have that at the same time not feeling road bumpiness as much. What route would you guys suggest I do? Should I get a coilover setup or would that be overkill for what I want? Again, I'm not looking to lower my vehicle at all. Let me know what you guys think might be a good route for me. Your suggestions and ideas are always welcome and definitely appreciated. Thank you! |

Which M3 parts are you referring to? I'm thinking about just going with Eibach pro-kit and Koni FSD only because I don't have any better ideas. I don't really want my vehicle much lower than it already is now.
Furthermore, **********s says that Koni FSD doesn't work with 335i? http://www.**********s.com/KONI-FSD-...ings-combo.htm Other people though seem to have run that setup on the 335 E93 and they say they like it: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=378632 |

Welcome & congrats on the ride.
You'll want to upgrade the dampers + springs. The M3 parts will improve road feel/communication but won't do much for handling (minus the sway bars) - not even close to the value you'd get from upgrading the dampers + springs. See if KW V2 or KW Street Comfort coilovers are able to be run at stock ride height. I'm unsure if the BMW Performance Suspension kit is offered for the E93, but that would probably do the job as well.

I can say that you'll be hard pressed to find the limit with this. Also, look into walnut shell blasting your intake valves, say, every 35k mi for tip-top performance. |

Going from a two door to a convertible will have this effect. Drop tops are not as rigid as their B and C pillar having brethren and also weigh more. But for the desired effect I'd follow all of the above advice, it's all very sound.

David, sir, to me, m3 bits before going to springs and dumpers. Many years reading about this subject.

Javi, what m3 parts would you suggest? I was considering just going with the K2 V2 Coilovers and saying screw it to right height. If I have to go lower to get the handling that I want, so be it.

If you want improved handling and ride quality see if KW street comfort has an e93 application. Since you're not interested in lowering your car much this is a better suspension than v2 or Eibach/fsd
