Is the PPK worth it?

I'm trying to determine if I should have the PPK put on my 335i after my delivery.

Is the +20HP and 36FtLbs of worth it?

How much is it? I'm considering Dinan Stage 2 for +55HP

Do you get any extra cooling with the kit or is it just a tune? It depends if you're paranoid about modding like I am.

It absolutely is. Completely changes the car. Very well balanced and quick. It also makes more than the advertised power and sounds much more aggressive. Coming from a jb1 the MPPK is very impressive.

How should I go about doing it?

Adding it before delivery or after?

Not worth it in my opinion. Let's have a look at some dyno numbers published on this very website.

Stock:
316 bhp & 356 lb-ft at the crank

PPK:
336 bhp & 377 lb-ft at the crank

That's only +20 bhp & +21 lb-ft from stock to PPK. Or a 6% increase.

There are also reports of people saying that they objectively don't feel a difference in power. No wonder, because 6% is not enough to feel a difference. You would need +20% to really feel something. However is improves the noise and the throttle response and that's the biggest change that people are going to be feeling.

That is NOT worth $1k + labor.

I'm very very happy with mine. Comfort feels like old sport and sport now feels like more. Completely agree that part of it is throttle mapping but all I know is I can leave it in comfort mode all the time and not feel neutered. In sport it is fast! WOT is amazing (and the main place you feel the extra output).

Have you driven one? It's just speculation then. I've had quite a bit of experience with tunes for the e90 and f30. I'm very demanding of these tunes. If it really is as weak as you say i would have been very unhappy. I was very pleasantly surprised with the performance. MPPK completely changes the performance of the car and is worth it. Feels better now with this than when I had my jb1. At least for 8at and mperformance exhaust equipped cars. If it sucked I would have told everyone. Trust me I have plenty of experience with this. .

Are you off your rocker? 20%?! No way. Give me two 335i's back to back test drive and I'll tell you which has the PPK on it

Without a doubt. The 335i should have come from the factory with the M PPK. The added power is noticeable and very enjoyable. Furthermore, the throttle re-mapping was executed brilliantly. Comfort mode is now a viable, dare I say fun, driving mode.

I was unaware that there is Dinan software available for the F30 . . .

Will the dealer give you the option of adding MPPK right off the bat? I think I want to add it, but I don't want to shorten my warranty...

No. 4 year at port OR remainder of your new manufacturers warranty.

If you have a BMW warranty extension like I do, it goes with the extension (so I am covered until 2018 with the MPPK)...
