Question about sport displays

Is there a way to make it display HP and Torque instead of whatever it claims to be displaying now.

"Power" gauge of the sport display IS the hp (in kw measurement) and "Torque" gauge is...you've guessed it! Torque.....

Is it showing something different?

If that is the case you should be able to change the setting in the Language section of IDrive?

If you have access to a coder, you can enable the power units to be changed via the Settings menu.

For some unknown reason, BMW disables changing these units (power and torque) by default.

Yes, but for some strange reason some US cars are coming in with KW/NM and they did not do ED.

I've see this on at least 6 cars and have coded the units enable to fix it.

One guy had his car into the dealer only for this reason and they spent a day trying to change it and ended up not being able to. We coded it and changed the units in less than 10 minutes.

To add to this topic... can modern, luxury, or plain line display those values after coding? Or only sports line is enabled? What sensor would be missing? Frogman was able to display the "gauges" but no numbers could be seen... should we have another attempt at it next week

It's not a line issue, as my luxury line sports display works.

It seems to only work if you have some sort of navigation option. Without navigation, it seems like the data path for the engine information can't get to the screen.

This is reinforced by the fact that people in other regions that have the small screen and business navigation (verses professional navigation and the wider screen) have had success is getting the sports display to show data.

Since you don't have professional navigation on your car and business navigation is not offered in the US, I'm pretty sure you are SOL.

There is a SIB out there, ask your dealer. They should do it free of charge since it wasn't done correctly at delivery...

AND ONCE they do it, make sure you reset your profile, because that seems to be the only way to get it to "re-establish" the correct units...I had mine done with the PPK.

Any chance you can provide the SIB#? I've been to my local dealer for this very issue and they had no idea. They also said they were not able to find any service bulletin regarding this. I'd love to have my sport displays show HP/TQ

My car has been in the service department five times. Each time I complained about my sport display reading in metric. When I bought the car the displays read in American Standard unfortunately, the settings changed during a software update when the dealer installed satellite radio. The dealer has no answer nor information from Germany to remedy the problem.

If you have the solution to fix the displays, please post instructions and I will run it by my dealer.

For those of you that have dealers that were able to recode the sport displays can you check your invoice and see if there is a specific SIB# assigned to this effort? That information would be a huge help to fellow members! I wanna see HP/Tq dangit!
